I wonder how living 30+ floors up affects the biodiversity of insects.

At first I was thinking "more bugs with wings", but bug density at that altitude is probably pretty thin. More likely are critters you bring in on shoes, clothing, and supplies. Moving in furniture that's not brand new would establish the initial colonies. Depending on critter type and building layout, some migration from adjacent living spaces is likely.

Survey findings revealed that as floor numbers increase, fewer types of insects thrive

30 floors is pretty damn high. I doubt there would be much up there except maybe cockroaches. Do you live in a building that tall? I couldn't even imagine would that would be like.

I live on the 37th floor, so yeah. Apartments in Hong Kong can get a little tall. There are laws requiring the buildings to be shorter than the surrounding mountains

I read the article to find out what I can do to make sure bugs don't invade my apartment. Turns out human activity does't play a big role and apparently more bugs are good for you. Gross.

Wow that's really interesting. It kind of makes sense, because that's more the natural environment our immune systems developed in.

Yeah. Pretty interesting how there is a fine line between being exposed to the right amount of disease to build a solid immunity, and full on catching a contagious disease.

It does seem like a pretty thin line, but maybe it's not as thin as we think. It's certainly an interesting subject.

Gross

Speaking of... Have you ever looked up those FDA regulations on how many bug parts are allowed in various types of foods? Depending on where and how you live, that may be the major source of bug (parts) entering your apartment.

For those who may wonder: "How much insect and rodent filth am I eating?", here is a taste of the regulations.
