I've been going through and building my own social media platforms and everything on my own servers lately because I've lost so much faith in big Tech to continue serving us. There's a lot of different things that you need, a Google drive replacement, chat replacement, social media replacement, and one big one that I thought was going to be very difficult is a YouTube replacement. In my travels I discovered peertube, and although there is no chance for monetization it does look legitimately amazing. Besides having a very decent user interface and a very decent app, the federation is just great. Without having to build an audience, I've already got many of the creators that I already like through federation with other peer tube instances. One of the most amazing things is it includes peer-to-peer live streaming, which I think might be one of the only instances of this out there.
