i don't see a big difference besides length, which if something is good having it be longer is ok

some series are made with no end in mind, the story keeps dragging on til the producers decide to wrap it up. then you get this unsatisfying rushed ending.

I don't mind limited series(also known as mini series) coz the writer has already finished the story, It has a legitimate beginning, middle and end. And the pacing is on point.

I also have commitment issues. I don't want to spend that many hours on ONE show, too many fish in the sea man,...I remember watching an episode of "house of cards" then I said to myself -outloud- "I think we should see other people"

I believe it's "5 CENTIMETERS PER SECOND" Yet it is 10th on this list. Dubious. ???

That being said, here is my list of Studio Ghibli films worth watching. It's a short list, but these are the films I recommend:

My Neighbor Totoro (1988)

Grave of the Fireflies (1988)

Princess Mononoke (1997)

The Cat Returns (2002) (Very silly, but fun watch)

Most of the other films seem to lack any form of character motivations or... Story really. They are just too far up their own ass with visuals or quirkiness, to care about such things as to actually make worth watching.

holy shit you're right, i could've sworn it was "10 centimeters per second"

I fucking hated "my neighbor Totoro"

I absolutely loved "Grave of the Fireflies"...forgot it was a ghibli movie

The key to understanding My Neighbor Totoro, is the fact that in almost every scene, for the entire runtime, the children are in dire danger. You should watch it almost as one watches a horror movie. As strange as you may find this, I was more terrified of the unknown in this film than any horror movie I had ever viewed. And my first viewing of this film was on VHS, long before I had read the theory that Totoro is possibly a Death God.

In addition, the localization is very good. It is not a story you should view with subtitles. Don't fall for the snobbery of anime fans who will tell you to only watch subbed versions, there are just as many bad subs, as their are poor dialog passes. Other Anime's that feature superior localization compared to subs are: Akira (Original Streamline audio only), and FLCL.

Noke is a culinary term used by the Māori of New Zealand to refer to earthworms, some types of native worms are local delicacies.

This princess is known as one delicious earthworm?

I watched it again recently, didn't have the same "zing" as i remembered. I guess I'm just tired of fantasy movies
