I haven't completely switched to Saidit, but I use it to get alternative viewpoints as reddit has been become a huge left leaning echo chamber.

I recently found out about reveddit.com and ran my username. Found 23 post that had been taken down by mods or auto mods.

Some of the auto mod take downs I still can't figure out what was wrong with the posts. Might have been edgy but I have seen worse on reddit.

Some of the mod take downs were nothing more then total abuse of power. One example, I agreed with someone who told a story about what life was like during the cold war under communism and my comment was manually deleted by a mod! 100% clean comment. No swearing or anything. Plenty of comments shiting on the guy's story that the mod left alone More scary then anything.

People need to take censorship serious.

In case you are wondering about the anti-communist comment, Tencent owns part of Reddit, and my hypothesis is that the other owners agreed to make it China-"friendly" so they can sell more.

Reddit offers subreddits a choice between increasingly strict and unreasonable censorship, and closing. I object to this. It's sad to see "communities" that people have spent time and effort on, and developed friendships in, get first ghettoised by "quarantine" then killed off.

Why choose saidit? Of all the reddit-likes, this seems to have the most active KiA.

I left Digg when they thought they could tell users what to post and what to upvote.

Reddit has gone further and has more power than Digg had. But it's still dying. It'll turn into a porn hub instead of what it use to be before long.

I hope it goes the way of digg.

I switched when one of my comments disappeared, not just from the subreddit I posted in, it was also removed from my history, like it never existed, there was no warning or explanation at all and it made me feel terribly uncomfortable. I love the concept of reddit and decided to see if there was a site similar to it and that led me here

No one wants an actual discourse they want escapist feel good dialogue. Especially about politics. The inciting incident for me was that WPD got banned. But I had been pissed off by Reddit's censorship and by the fact that it is just a left-wing echochamber for a while. I found out that WPD moved to Saidit, and followed. Started reading the front page, found out that there's actually interesting stuff on here, made an account so I could post. Saw the potential of this site once more people come here, started suggesting Saidit to other Reddit users.

I never switched since I never joined reddit. Though, I did want to join Reddit, but the overpowered mods and mob ruling vote system is what killed it for me. I joined Saidit instead. I should note, even before Saidit, I did join Voat, but that's for another thread. No need to derail this one. :)

I found here when ice poseidon subreddits got the ban hammer back in 2019. I had the most fun time browsing that subreddit but they took away my fun because i guess it was getting too much attention from r/livestreamfail and even r/all.
