I'll bring Beef Pork Buns too because its the most anti-religious food possible.

Beef pork buns? Are you sure you’re not showing up with a mayonnaise and cracker platter?

Do we have to actually have the vaccine before trying the Soylent? Is it mint chocolate chip flavored?

We're not talking about this stuff, are we? https://soylent.com/products/soylent-drink-mint-chocolate-1

That green bottle dressed in an eye pleasing plastic sheath. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get one from the store soon just to have a flavor profile in memory when soylent comes up again. Maybe I can pretend that people goo tastes just like it with enough chocolate, cream and peppermint extract when society inevitably falls.

I went through the ingredients list, and the splenda/sucralose would have made the entire taste experience vile anyway. If I'm going to poison myself, they should at minimum make it worth my time.

Marketing plays dirty tricks with using buzzwords and pretty colors. The consumer (in both senses) was almost had.

Everyone posts there. They're probably pork ribs though, albeit likely still tasty. I have to go look up why pork is unclean.

          [–]fschmidt 6 insightful - 4 fun6 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 4 fun -  (8 children)

          Everyone posts there.

          I don't.

They're probably pork ribs though, albeit likely still tasty. I have to go look up why pork is unclean.

Because at that time pork had the risk of trichinosis. So no longer applies (in reasonably clean areas).

          [–]Foidblaster9000 6 insightful - 5 fun6 insightful - 4 fun7 insightful - 5 fun -  (5 children)

You've replied there, doesn't that count? Pork still carries that risk unless it's thoroughly cooked though. Commercial American meat farming probably cuts a lot of corners. On the infograph that I read it was something about chewing cud, and that they were considered unclean because they were mobile garbage disposals. Then I saw that goats were considered clean, which doesn't make sense because they're retarded compared to pigs, and eat actual garbage too. The infograph was from the United Church of God's site though, so I don't know how that lines up with other religious dietary restrictions

          [–]JasonCarswell 4 insightful - 7 fun4 insightful - 6 fun5 insightful - 7 fun -  (4 children)

          and eat actual garbage too.

This is false. Goats are picky fuckers.

          [–]Foidblaster9000 7 insightful - 5 fun7 insightful - 4 fun8 insightful - 5 fun -  (3 children)

Lots of goats might be. Others are garbage munchers hellbent on dying.

          [–]JasonCarswell 3 insightful - 4 fun3 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 4 fun -  (2 children)

I used to believe that too.

I know the goats I knew, and I know the media lies, so I'm very skeptical about any other "garbage-eating goats".

          [–]Foidblaster9000 1 insightful - 3 fun1 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Guess you've been around some well behaved goats. I've been around quite a few that will rob you of any dangling objects that look nibble worthy on clothing.

Im bringing Pork Beef Buns but for you I can bring some mini-matzo balls and gefilte fish. I'll get the local Rebbe who is Shochet to bring brisket for the BBQ.

Because at that time pork had the risk of trichinosis. So no longer applies (in reasonably clean areas). That is true but is only one of many reasons why pork is forbidden
Why Is Pork Forbidden? 29 minutes
          Some of my notes:
pig principles: environment, not very mobile dont need big pastures like cattle or sheep ideal for raising in a settlement or city eat human trash but makes them poorly suited for pastoral and nomadic lifestyles, society, pig husbandry in cities is often associated with lower socio economic status, settlement, pigs are useful for people to settle a new area since they can reproduce quickly new herds can be established quickly with just a few starter animals, economy, pigs can be harder to regulate than other domesticated animals for two reasons their litter sizes can vary drastically 12 - 14 piglets but usually much less they dont produce secondary products like wool or milk which are also valuable sources of taxes and institutional wealth in pre industrial societies so governments encourage raising other animals like goats sheep cows, health, pigs carry disease and are susceptible to parasites like tape worms that can be transmitted to humans. pigs only take a year to mature and eat your trash.

          [–]fschmidt 4 insightful - 4 fun4 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

Those other reasons may have been valid, I don't know. But anyway, I eat pork ribs regularly and I can't remember the last time I ate matzo balls or gefilte fish. So you can keep them for yourself.

Internet SaidIt potluck? Nothing, I'm here and throw out some comments occasionally, but mostly just provide upvotes/funnies from the sidelines.

IRL SaidIt potluck? YUMMY FOOD! I will bring deliciousness we can all enjoy. I can't BBQ yet, but I will totally bake sides and make snackplates for us all.

          [–]goobandit[S] 5 insightful - 7 fun5 insightful - 6 fun6 insightful - 7 fun -  (3 children)

I was sincerely asking about a hypothetical IRL cookout because I thought it would be nice to have people share their best/favorite dishes. Hit “submit” and almost immediately realized no one would be serious, but I love these replies just the same!

          [–][deleted] 3 insightful - 5 fun3 insightful - 4 fun4 insightful - 5 fun -  (0 children)

I love food and my belly shows it, happy to share some favorites!

I just made a green bean casserole from scratch, would you (or anyone) like the recipe? I've also got garlic roast beef, sausage-stuffed apples, and crockpot carnitas/pork or crockpot carne asada/beef steak. Crockpot shredded chicken is another thing I make, which is hella easy and adaptable to any flavor at all. A simple side-snack for nearly everyone is tomato/cheese/basil on toothpicks.

Maybe SaidIt users should make a sub for all of this at the end of the day though, maybe even 2 subs. s/recipes and s/slowcookerrecipes. Whatcha think?

I'm fine creating subs, but I can't mod anything else right now. So I would need someone else to be head mod and taking care of rules, design, etc.

Then air fried it along with some bell peppers(seasoned with a little oil and Chinese five spice) rice noodles, corn, all with teriyaki and Chinese five spice. I air fried the meat first. Cooled down the air fryer just a bit the roasted the peppers in oil an Chinese five spice powder.
