It's the ancient impulse to ostracize the unfit members of the tribe. It's better for the tribe if the lesser males don't reproduce. Thus their lives are made a living hell by bullying, psychological torturer and physical abuse. Either they run away from the tribe or they commit suicide in despair. Either way their inferior genes are removed and everyone wins. Well, except them of course.

The top males monopolizing all the women is why the lesser men banded together and invented monogamy. Every man gets exactly one woman. If you're a loser, a matchmaker gets you a wife. She won't win any beauty contests but you'll be able to have a family like a normal person. But this compact was broken by feminism and we're back to the old ways.

Because nobody cares about them. I thought Reddit, the we-have-sympathy-for-all-downtrodden-groups audience, would have understood. But no, they had the same disgust reaction as apes. Then they did victim-blaming. Shocking. Just goes to show how deeply embedded this is, and how they feel they're right when they ostracize. The justifications come later.
