Anybody ever try going on a "working" vacation?

I'm not talking about moving or expatriating... more like just getting away for a week or so, maybe not so far from home. Like if you live near a coastal area, for example, and can stay in a motel, just to isolate yourself and get work done.

Anyone ever done that? And did you get more work done than you would have, had you just stayed home?

I did.12 weeks in Barcelona.

This city is worth every free minute you have.

Which is better, staying at the coast or in the city? I prefer the coast myself, but is it worth it over there?

Staying in the city is very costly. But public transportation is excellent. If you want a fitting apartment or condo in the outer area, you gotta know sme, who can provide it.

Barcelona in 2014 was very popular and i believe it still is.

I haven't done it as often as I'd like to but the few times I have have been mixed. Once time was fantastic, got shitloads done, totally in the zone. Once I got fuck all done because too many interesting things to see and do and fucking around getting aircon working and waiting for room service and blah fucking blah...

The change of scenery really helps but you need to keep it simple.

Coffee is not your friend when you need to concentrate, it does the opposite and makes you hyper in random directions when you need laser focus

It was a cheap-ass 'homestay' out of town with shitty internet but freezing aircon.

Nothing to do, except look at nice views and do some work.

I often find the real problem is I'm just unsure of certain things, so asking lots of questions - or sending the fuckers a form to fill in - can help a lot.

I get a ton of shit done at my local library.

Yes to both. And the local library is too dull and dreary a place to get work done. I can't get any motivation there.

Incidentally, have you ever thought about perhaps changing your username? Like something that doesn't make you come off as unbelievably hostile right off the bat? I mean, why?

Nope but before I retired I was on call every vacation I ever took after laptops came out.
