You're a good boy, HK.

You're a cool guy, HKP! I know we don't talk that often in the chat but you seem pleasant.

🥰

Thanks Indy, the feeling is mutual, I always enjoy chatting with you.

I'd like to be able to say I am unswayed by other people's opinions of me, and I try to be, but we are social animals who do need approval for our psychological health, and it feels good to be appreciated

I like it even more when satan tells me I did a good job

[–]chickenz 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (12 children)

Just fyi, I don't push my religion on you, so keep that shit out of my grill.

That shit really just makes you sound like a stupid two year old, so save it for somebody else.

Ok fair enough, if you stop saying things like:

Aren't you that fucktard that said that Satan loves you and cares about you?

Then I'll leave it alone

[–]chickenz 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

Hey, go fuck yourself

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

So you do want me to tell you more about our Savior Satan?

[–]Psychosomatic 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Is Satan the horny one?

[–]chickenz 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Hey sir, I am not one of your friends.

It's like an old gangster friend of mine used to tell me.. He would say "I can be friendly, but I am not your friend"

[–]IndianaJones[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

cant we just all get along

[–]chickenz 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

hello indianajones... i can get along just fine... point (a) i am not going to engage hongkongphooey in relationship repair drama.. because (b) i am not in a relationship with him.

i have listened to hkp repeatedly attempt to badger me with his little comments about how he loves satan, which is really none of my concern unless he is throwing it in my face over and over.

again, i simply refuse to engage someone in relationship drama repair over their having harassed me repeatedly.

i am a self taught and capable counselor and i have little difficulty in defining what my boundaries are.

just fyi, i do not agressively defend my boundaries unless they are intentionally and repeatedly violated.

i consider this issue as closed.

We all have different personalities and require different interactions to motivate or validate. Some of us require feedback form others while some of us don't. A good manager will get to know his employees enough to treat them to their own requirements. A personal life hack, like you mentioned, is to regularly use a person's name when speaking with them. This approach of finding what a person wants from us also plays well in romantic relationships.

[–]IndianaJones[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

High IQ and based. Yes, I've heard people's favourite words tend to be their own names so this makes sense.

You once told me you own a business. In your business, do you tell your employees "good job"? Or do they not need that validation? Either way I think you should do that. I think it would improve the morale of your employees very much :) Which can lead to increased productivity.

[–]Zapped 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Some do, some don't. For me, the hardest part of business is managing people and their personalities. Sometimes, though, you can't fix someone for them, and you have to decide, "are they affecting overall moral?". You should use the same thought process on your boss and if they are not meeting your needs and not willing to adapt as you are, then you have to make the decision to stay or move on.

How many jobs have you had? I'm at a point in my life where I've realized that all bosses are my enemies and coworkers are just waiting in the wings to fuck me over. Be careful.

I was a kitchen hand during my high school days, but it was for school purposes since I had picked hospitality as one of my subjects. The first work placement was in a pizza restaurant, the second one was in a hotel kitchen. I hated every second of it though, I probably won't work in the kitchen ever again.

My first "real job" after high school was a pick packing job for a warehouse but I didn't work there for long. I wouldn't mind working at a warehouse again though. That'd be sweet.

My most recent job was screen-printing. God I loved the people there, I regret quitting it so much. I'm sorry you keep getting shit co-workers, Mel. It really is a coin flip. I hope you're more lucky in the future.

I think I just find it increasingly hard to get along with and tolerate normies.

One of us! One of us! Gooble-gobble! gooble-gobble!

You can always go back, saying how much you miss the people there

[–]LarrySwinger2 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No you can't. As the saying goes: once you forfeit your paycheck, you can never come back.

My team rarely achieve a good standard of work. They receive a "well done" any time they meet acceptable or satisfactory performance levels at best.

[–]Bigs 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Lemme paste...

"Andreas4 days ago Great job overall btw!!"

So... yeah. That's from a regular client though, as I'm self-employed (marketing guru and hypnotherapist, 2 different hats)

[–]IndianaJones[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Hey it's still something. Good job!

[–]Bigs 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Thanks! *blush

I say "good job" every time when someone corrects my sometimes erroneous proofs and calculations in a constructive way.

I love getting better and correcting my stuff...

Sadly, this happens only seldom because most people can't gather the fortitude to speak up, I suppose.

[–]Fireslinger 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Lately, I've been finding the workplace to be more depressing than usual. A couple coworkers will sometimes tell me 'good job', but rarely to never from the 'boss'

Everyone seems to be hyper-focused on 'efficiency', which = coldness. In my view, we're becoming AI, and are losing our humanity. Which is why we need to step back from efficiency, and focus more on being human. As counter-intuitive as that sounds. Efficiency is obviously important, but I feel like we're overly prioritizing it at the expense of everything else, and need to find a balance.
