"Something" what? A feather or a plastic bauble = gone to the city street tubes. A ring is heavy and most likely sitting at the U trap under the sing easy to unscrew and empty out. So it all depends on weight of what went down the drain. Something very light = gone and something heavier then it's still there.

Yeah, get it out of there. It'll increase the chance of a clog through build up of hair and all the other gunk that goes down your drain.

If you do end up getting a clog, you can try plunging it after running a ton of hot water. It can be enough to push it forward. Fortunately the pipes get progressively larger, the further they go, so additional clogs are less likely.

If you have long hair it might wrap around it and cause a problem in a couple years, but theres chemicals to deal with that later.

Very high percentage you'll never have a problem. But it's one of those things you just can't tell what's going on in the pipes you own until there is a problem.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

I think there's definitely a chance it's stuck in your pipes, but it might not cause any problems. I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes an issue.
