So, you pinged me but I have zero idea what this is all about. Which totalitarians are trying to take over, and are they trying to take over indiviiducal subs or SaidIt as a whole? Are your proposals specific to this sub only?

Okay, I'm seeing your additional comment below, "Please consider this for /s/WayOfTheBern", which I'm interpreting to mean you want these proposals to become rules that apply to every sub. In which case, I invite you to pound sand. That's not preventing totalitarians from taking over, it's inviting them in and giving them the keys.

There is no need for inflammatory language. I am not the enemy. Please re-read what was posted on top.
If you do not know who/what 'totalitarians' refer to - please ignore this ping/message. Thanks.

As always, here's the real question:

Forum etiquette to be observed by all

Or else, what, specifically?

So... You want to beat them to the punch and institute totalitarian policies... To prevent totalitarianism?

Am I getting this right?

Please consider this for /s/WayOfTheBern

You and some others have some really good ideas. There is a point at which stricter rules make for more of a exclusive community, though. I do like the idea of the pinned posts and notes explaining rules and etiquette, but that is not my call.

Who else - please let me know so that I can look into their ideas

Your call, u/Magnora7?

JasonCarswell, for one. There has been talk about a year or more ago about tightening the rules. I can't remember exactly who else at the moment. It seems that whenever an admin starts removing posts and comments, and banning users for repeatedly "dragging down discussion" or ad hominem attacks, it doesn't end well.

[–]EddieC[S] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

OK, thanks

Just to clarify, my suggestion: "Forum etiquette to be observed by all: only relevant & constructive posts & replies" would only apply to the pinned posts, and not the rest of the sub(s).

Hopefully u/Magnora7 sees the value in this simple idea.

He won't. Guaranteed.

The management here has always been closed, stagnant, useless, and utterly rotten with egotistical bullshit thinking he knows best, and he's let the forum slide to the point where the users just drag everything down. There is no future or civility here and we don't have time to waste as the world burns when alternatives and solutions need attention.

I'm done with toxic SaidIt and moving on.
Some of us can do better and we all deserve better.

Agreed, but it will never be adhered to.

Agreed, but it will never be adhered to.

Those that do not adhere signify their real position
- Users can then block them and won't see their posts ever again
- Mods can easily enforce the requirement if they choose to - since it is to be strictly applicable only for the pinned post(s)

This part right here.....
It seems like you are trying to not say something specific.

Almost speaking in euphemism.

[–]EddieC[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Mods can leave irrelevant & non-constructive comments as they are - so that other users would know who the trolls are that they can block for themselves
