Omegle has shut down! One of the last free places on the internet. What does that mean to you?

I really hope an alternative opens up. I had visited that website for years. I used it to tell jokes, meet interesting people from all over the world, practice my standup routine, practice my guitar and my musical improv. And I can’t count the number of people who expressed to me how much happier they were that they had heard my jokes or my music. It brought a lot of happiness to people, but now it’s just been paved over like a mom and pop restaurant for the construction of a new Walmart plaza in this gentrified Internet.

The place has been overrun with bots and horny teenagers for the last 5 years. The text mode sure was. Still, I was able to have some decent conversations with people there.

I knew the place was going to die in a couple years from the moment they removed question mode. I'm gonna miss it. I liked the anonymity.
