Dodge Neon: 1995–1999. There was an issue with the engine block where it was made of two different types of metal, aluminum cap and the rest iron. They expanded at different rates and would always crack and separate causing the engine to drip and burn oil. Once it happened you basically had to put a quart of oil in every time you filled gas. Repairing it was very expensive.

Everything about the car was made on the cheap as they were trying to keep it under $10k. (Canadian) My sister bought one for that reason. A new car for $9998.00 plus tax! What a deal!

Moral is you get what you pay for.

Agreed. I was once walking around downtown and a Yugo that had stopped at a light started turning right around a corner, at very low speed. Right then and there, the front axle snapped in half and the bumper crashed to the ground with this unholy screech. Absolute garbage car.

In modern times, I'd say KIA gets that honor. Never seen a car w/ more problems than Kias.

My wife has a 2014 Soul and it's been a great car. Regular oil changes and yearly intake cleanings (gotta stay on those GDI's) and it's fine. I think it falls into the category of "not able to take much abuse". Take the small engines for example. The Briggs & Stratton are just as good as the Honda if properly maintained, but you can abuse the Honda and it still runs while the B & S will not.

I vote for the Ford Fiesta (2014-2019).

141 deaths per million registrations.

Yeah that's pretty shitty.

Yugo is a solid choice. An ex girlfriend's old ass 98 Saturn SL2 is the shittiest car I've ever driven personally. Looked ok from the outside if you squinted but my god was the interior disgusting and insanely uncomfortable. Any trip over ten minutes would kill my back and I never had a bad back. Worst part about the car is that it never died. Leaked oil, was never maintained and yet it kept wheezing on. It was finally put out of its misery by a red light runner totaling that POS (fortunately no injuries). I've never been more happy to see a car totaled.

My dad had a Corvair until it was stolen.

Growing up we had a Pacer.

My dad had a 1960 Corvair. We couldn’t keep it out of the shop. We had to park it in January of 1964 when we gave up. It took 3 months to get the new car he ordered. Good riddens.

I was on a National Car Rental shuttle bus in 2005. This was the “ show your license and drive away” club of folks All of us were frequent car renters that had been prescreened. We pulled into the National lot..one of the renters groaned “Oh no, it’s all Malibus.” All the other riders, including me then groaned. “Noooooo.” We hated Malibus. (But the Malibu that replaced it a few years later was good!)

My neighbor had a Vega. The car was completely rusted out by the New England road salt within 3 years. My dad had a 1960 Corvair. We couldn’t keep it out of the shop. We had to park it in January of 1964 when we gave up. It took 3 months to get the new car he ordered. Good ridden.

Old turbo Corvairs are one of my favorite classic cars! What don't you like about them? I've driven one and it was awesome.
