Yes absolutely. Furthermore, using artwork, visual representation, movements, voice, and writing as training data without permission from the creator is theft.

But if you actually bought their media...?

Do I need to get their permission to sample it for my own personal usage no one sees? Or a few see? Or many see? Or what's the limit?

Reply is likely incorrect, though it is a matter of current legal debate.

A derivative work is usually illegal. The question is whether it is legal imitation, illegal use of likeness or a derivative work.

You have a very limited scope of understanding on.

Music soundbites and samples are used all the time - legally.

Parody and educational use is frequent - legally.

There are lots of use-cases, as well as some established limits to audio samples.

More importantly - are your for freedom or are you for tyrannically corporate dominance of "intellectual property" they call culture (which is dumbed down slave-mentality entrainment) as they stomp on authentic indie-culture?

I have my "intellectual property" stolen all the time. I have oven mitts with my designs on them that I didn't authorize. I do not have an army of lawyers to fight for my fair share - or more. I don't know if I should sue the store, the distributor, the manufacturer, the fabric printer, their accountant, or all of the above - but how could I trace them down?

Intellectual property and copyrights are weapons to keep us down and (((them))) in power. You sound like you support this paradigm.

No, it is use of likeness. Can be illegal on it's own. Especially if not disclosed or reasonably assumed to not be the person cloned. Copywrite applies to what is said.

Could be used in fraud, but not necessarily.
