BroStep
Dubstep gained significant traction in the 2011 US market, via the post-dubstep style known as brostep, largely popularized by Skrillex, Bassnectar, Datsik, Excision, FreQ Nasty, Vespers, Minnesota, Squarepusher, and others. Spin Magazine referred to brostep as a "lurching and aggressive" variant of dubstep. Unlike traditional dubstep production styles, which emphasise sub-bass content, brostep accentuates the middle register and features "robotic fluctuations and metal-esque aggression".
GlitchHop
Glitch hop is a sub-genre of glitch music typically merged with urban hip hop and dubstep. From the late 1990s glitch hop took shape until the late 2000s dominated by dubstep merged with elements of glitch music (low fidelity manipulation, stutters, beat repeat, pitched reverses, and cuts). Rather than renaming the new genre, artists kept the name glitch hop despite criticism from traditional glitch hop fans due to the current musical genre style being absent of glitch or instrumental hip hop. Artists include: The Glitch Mob (edIT, Boreta, Ooah, Kraddy), Tipper, Jantsen, ill.Gates, GRiZ, 12th Planet, Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin, and others.
