Capitalist societies have a theme of seeking an hedonist lifestyle and power at all costs. This by itself isn't bad, after all we need healthy amounts of selfishness and hedonism may allow us to have an overall better mood. However, people are taught to take this to absurd levels, not knowing or even caring how harmful such a lifestyle could be. The food and even the water in some cases is harmful, but instead of seeking who is behind all this, people waste their time following the latest rumor, instead of learning more about what they can do to change politics for the better, they pay way too much attention to celebrities and themselves.
To be fair, capitalism does have a few good themes and teaches some values like freedom, the respect of private property and defending constitutional rights, but personally, I accuse people and society of acting/living those values in bad faith, the same way religious people only follow those traditions out of pressure or convenience. In my opinion, those nationalist values are what should shape our actions the most but people are too diverted with the media and pleasures like to take them seriously. This is all made worse by the control TPTB have over social media, people are taught to accept their most violent and savage ways. Those anti-values and psychological archetypes can even be considered the personification of the devil and TPTB want regular people to accept those dark aspects of ourselves.
