blessed are the poor confused me - growing up in this materialistic world we're told those with more things of the world are successful and we should strive to be that way

the poor have less things of this world, the more you have of this world the more you are attached to it and this being Satans world (at this time) the more things of this world you have, the more things you have of Satans and he charges rent with high interest rates

John 12:25 Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.

John 12:31 The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out.

John 15:19 The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.

Those are great, things of the world and earth only last for a short time. The place where Jesus and his father is will last forever, its eternal yet we waste our time building in a place that will soon disappear like wasting time playing a MMORPG with an expiry date soon up.

NLT 2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.

KJV 2 Peter 3:10 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Found a few passages of the earth being burned up, world was destroyed by water previously fire next?

The more i read the bible, the outlook i see for Christians lifestyle is of a monk.

KJV Colossians 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

KJV Colossians 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

School educating about the world is good but becoming more ingrained to lifestyles of the world is not. Easier said than done growing up in the west.
