Some people have compared the modern systems as similar to Plato's oligarchy. The rule of the rich in which money replaces virtue and by manipulating the constitution and entertaining the masses with material goods, the ruling groups become a powerful tyranny.
The degeneracy that can come from systems similar to the ones I described should teach us a lesson when it comes to judging others. While there is a relevance to status and power they aren't above the virtues that make a person who they are and what they contribute to society.
