This is an idea I just had. Maybe it already exists. Maybe the name is already in use. Lemme know.

Imagine a Federated platform that is like a bank teller for cryptocurrencies. Not a bank. Not an exchange. Not having access to your private keys or wallets or whatever. Just a bank-teller-inspired interface, to help you keep track of (and maybe manage) your crypto assets.

Perhaps it might need some access or permissions to help you buy, exchange, etc, but ideally I think it would be best to not muddy things and keep it simpler. Or better: have two forks - one with and one without. Or maybe have a verifiable way to purge the server of your private interaction, if even possible.

Anyway, if it is more than just book keeping, for buying and trading, the goal would be to decentralize into a network and not depend on extant exchanges with their pros and cons.

Last time I bothered with my paltry BitCoin, the blockchain took up 80gb of storage. I'm guessing it's exponentially larger now. IMO these blockchains should be openly archived so the corporatocracy and/or Chinese can't fudge with them. FLOSS Federating crypto may help keep them honest, assuming enough folks will want to have federated home servers with large storage for blockchains. Importantly, the GUI should be easy for Luddites and simpletons to use.

It would be nice if there were CryptoTeller modules that could be employed by other social media platforms, Federated or not.

Sounds like you're talking about defi networks, they're out there. It's just code, a program you can do your crypto trades on.

True. I don't know what I want need. I just know some of what I don't want from limited experience. Plus I like some idealized ideas, like FLOSS and decentralization.

I use the open source software called PortfolioPerformance to keep track of all my crypto, stocks, commodities. Its help pages are mostly in German but it's well made and does everything I need
