Im really happy I chose to buy a house instead of go to college, I actually went to college a few years later with my employer sponsoring my education however when I looked into it at first most universities just seemed like degree-mills to me.
Like the guidance counsellors and uni people I spoke to would never give me a straight answer when I asked what a degree would correlate to in terms of career and expected income, If I cant say that degreeX costs $60,000 and will return me $100,000 a year with certainty then I am wasting my money.

Believe it or not, we are actually far better off now than we ever used to be. People act less stupid than they have done for most of history. We might be coming off a peak of IQ high, though.
This doesn't mean that we are not being stupid, just that we used to be even more stupid, in many regards. How unfair laws used to be, for example, can be seen in books like those of Ernest Belfort Bax: https://archive.org/details/fraudoffeminism00baxerich
For example, husbands were responsible, in many instances, for many crimes committed by their wives. We still had slavery, prohibition of alcohol, we were sent to jail for the crimes of family members. That was the case both in Europe and is still the case in India in some instances, from what I understand, such as in dowry laws.
Every generation has to contend with their own share of stupidity. In that sense, we are doing our part. But, I do not need people to agree with me, because if they feel we are now more stupid than we used to be, they will still try to improve society, which is all I want. No matter how stupid we are now or we were then, we should always strive to do better.
Woodley, Michael A., Jan te Nijenhuis, and Raegan Murphy. “Were the Victorians Cleverer than Us? The Decline in General Intelligence Estimated from a Meta-Analysis of the Slowing of Simple Reaction Time.” Intelligence 41 (2013): 843–850.
http://www.iapsych.com/iqmr/fe/LinkedDocuments/woodley2013.pdf
As for universities, they may have actually become more stupid, because there has probably been an inflation of degrees. Getting to your doctorate used to be a very high honor. Now, everybody seems to have a PhD. I also felt that in the modern university I attended things were actually easier than the very traditional high school I attended, were we still studied Latin and ancient Greek, were teachers were very tough and it was rare to get full score on an exam. Virtually nobody got 100% on a test. The best student would usually get an A but there would never be a student who wasn't pushed to do better. At university, the professors seemed kind of reserved and soft, had more aversion against upsetting students, were more likely to just give an A. It was strange. Something might very well have happened in education. I know that my parents were still beaten or physically disciplined at least (pulling on ears, whacking on the hands with rulers, etc.).
But, as I said, it's probably better to err on the side of being too negative about the state of education than to be blissfully ignorant. If we are wrong about this, all we are doing is improving culture, society, and education by bringing more discipline into it again.
As for the gender divide, we are also less hypocritical about it now. I think older generations just didn't think about it as much, so they intuitively did what aligned with male and female gender roles, they automatically gave males more authority in exchange for their burden of having to defend country and society. Now, as unfair as courts often seem against men, they often also pass judgment on women in ways that only few judges would have done in centuries past, were women could often get away with murder (there were barristers who argued that women should no longer be put on trial for certain crimes because juries just wouldn't convict women).
I am not excusing any bigotry. We live in a different world now. We do not have tigers to fight anymore, we do not have rival tribes invading our villages. The threats of modern society are of a different kind that both genders should be expected to be equally well equipped to contend with, so it is time, in that regard, to make the genders more equal. But from other points of view we are also already a lot less unequal, a lot more educated, and a lot less silly. But, there are narrow areas, such as the transgenderism trend, where we do seem to have regressed, maybe temporarily as society, in its collective fashion, is figuring out how to deal with a new idea. I do think, though, that we will converge towards being sensible eventually.

I know you're right in every sense, and even just to add in the more basic things like poverty and literacy rates. It just troubles me to watch as fundamentally traditional roles like marriage, nuclear family, respect for the elderly and shared history are coming under attack so hard lately.... cornerstones of the society we've built up until now which I think need to be valued more. I think we put far too much emphasis on success in the business world and not nearly enough on parenting - I don't think there's any job more valuable than being a good mother or father. Family and heritage seem to not matter anymore but maybe I'm just being cynical.

I can see the headline now. Reddit censors subs that fall afoul of a shift in the left-wing identitarian orthodoxy. Women and lesbians most affected. This is of course ignoring what has been happening online for at least a decade.
Reddit has for a long time been banning subs, shadow banning, and threatening subs that went against the 'woke' narratives, including feminism. Subs I used to be in were forced to walk a very fine line to continue to exist. Nothing that could reasonably be described as hateful - just calling out left-wing identititarianism, predominantly feminist, attacks on things that offended the party. Twitter, YouTube, Patreon, and many others have been doing this - often encouraged or cheered-on by feminists.
That the woke zeitgeist has shifted to move women down the progressive stack was inevitable. The ideology is based on an oppressed/oppressor dichotomy, with the relative oppression of any given identity determining its place in the progressive stack. Turns out that men claiming to be women are more oppressed than women and lesbians, thus lesbians and women become oppressors when they complain about some weirdo swinging his dick at young girls in the changing room. I've little hope that the exiled feminists will see how their worldview led them to where they are now. They'll blame 'patriarchy' and will imagine this to be a plot by the same people who brought us man spreading and the apparent pilot to keep women out of tech, games, comics, and anything else to which men tend to gravitate more than women. The reality is that the people feminists have been attacking for a long time have been opposing this nonsense all the time. Feminists really need a 'are we the baddies' moment of realisation. Alternatively, continue along as you are. You'll either grow big enough to have yet another schism or will become a marginalised tiny group, loved by neither the mainstream left-wing identitarian movement nor those who oppose all of these neo-Marxist and hateful movements.
Welcome to the pit that feminism helped dig.

What or who are "Truscum"? Who is oppressing that faction of transgenders? And why?
Heterosexual males posing (by wearing a costume) as women are not women. When they die, archaeologists will know their gender by their bones, let alone with their walking around twirling their respective dicks in front of themselves while alive. Some weedle their way into female-only women's prisons and then sexually assault the true females there.
There are very few examples of "extra" genders (being both male and female by nature, not a birth defect of having two sets of genitalia) in the animal kingdom. Humans aren't one of them.
[–]Trajan 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun - 3 years ago (7 children)
Truscum is the term invented by people who feel that gender dysphoria is not a requirement to be transgendered. People derisively known as 'transtrenders'. In my view they're low-effort trans and transparent attention whores. Most don't undergo any hormonal or surgical interventions, and they tend to grow out it when they get older. They treat gender as if it's an outfit they can change on a whim, with some of them claiming to change gender mid-conversation. I don't consider them to be transgendered. They would say that transgendered people are oppressing them by denying their 'fluidity'.
You'll find a higher than average percentage are homosexual or bisexual. It's the same in other weirdo groups, like furries and otherkin. I totally agree - an inspection of their bones, or even their DNA, will reveal them to be male. You can't slap a Ferrari logo on a tractor and expect people will believe that it's a sports car.

Yeah, humans are one of two genders. Anything beyond that is vanishingly rare and, as you noted, is a birth defect. It could be that being transgender has biological factors, as is the common understanding of homosexuality, but being linked to a biological aberration doesn't make somebody the other sex any more than biological factors of schizophrenia mean that somebody really is hearing the voice of God.

I'd hardly call them heterosexual. Like I said, these weirdos are a pretty diverse bunch, like furries and otherkin. Also, can you name an ideology beginning with f that has long pushed social constructionism, intersectionality, critical theory, and post-modernism? These are all things that led up to this problem.
in other words, their the ones who coined the term. They don't want to take hormones, or make any changes to their bodies. Mens rights is predominantly a centre or right viewpoint. Can you explain how they're somehow to blame for a feminism being challenged by their ideological fellow travellers? Do you really think that mens rights types are fond of post-modernism, critical theory, and social constructionist ideas? No, not really. Feminism on the other hand has these things as its building blocks. Just go search the literature and you'll see that feminists and other left-wing identitarians are the champions of these things.
Males defending males. How original and never seen before in all of history. In fact, trans males complain about threats if they were to use a mens restroom... they never name where that threat is coming from. It's other men who are a threat to them. Not women.
No, you really don't understand this. Yes, men are a physical threat, as that's the default. Men are more prone to causing serious injury or death through violence. Fortunately a tiny percentage. The real threat to these people is from women. Like I said earlier, they want to be accepted as women, and the most important acceptance must come from women. They want to use facilities for women, and men have little say in that. MTF transgendered people show significantly higher rates of what we'd consider to be homosexuality based on the gender identity they claim. I'm sure you've seen the complaints that lesbians don't want to fuck a guy in a wig? It's probably no coincidence that a significant number of adolescents who express gender dysphoria, yet grow out of it, turn out to be gay. Men aren’t defending these people. It’d be more accurate to say that adherents to identity politics are, and feminism has been a founding member of that ideology.
Women are the threat to them, and that's why lesbians and women in general are seeing the greatest vitriol from these people. Think about it for a moment. If you wanted to become German, whose opinion matters the most to you? French people? I'd suggest you recognise that and respond accordingly if you want to protect women. In general, you'd do far better in this fight if you recognise feminism's genetic connection to this movement. If you keep believing this is some kind of patriarchal plot then you will not be able to fight them effectively and must instead get used to either subservience to them or becoming a fringe of feminists declared anathema by the rest of your larger identitarian movement. To be clear, I agree with you that they are not women. Biologically and psychologically it's nonsense. I don't want them using spaces where women expect privacy, such as toilets and changing rooms. I don't think men or women should be forced or compelled to accept transgender people as the gender they claim. We simply disagree on the root cause, thus we cannot agree on the means by which this movement can be attacked. Any attack I'd make is most likely going to apply to feminism and all other left-wing identitarian movements.
Edit: removed the weird paragraph on gay stuff. Not sure where I was going with that. Men in dresses are confusing.

Like I said earlier, they want to be accepted as women, and the most important acceptance must come from women.
Only to line up misinformed natal women to their (TiMs) side, not to become a reciprocal ally to those women who join them.
MTF transgendered people show significantly higher rates of what we'd consider to be homosexuality based on the gender identity they claim.
Those would be heterosexual males. They're not lesbians by any stretch. And their dicks are not clits. No clit on earth ejaculates, blowing out sperm, and can cause pregnancy. To say that females can insert their clit deep inside another woman, blow sperm into another human female is delusional.
Claiming to be something you're clearly not is known as being deluded.
Yes, men are a physical threat, as that's the default. Men are more prone to causing serious injury or death through violence.
Men are a threat to men. Men are a threat to women. Women can't physically defend themselves because males who've gone through puberty have a substantial physical advantage that women NEVER gain. Thicker bones, larger heart, more skeletal muscle, larger lungs, larger veins for pumping their blood, more muscle mass in general.
If a man and a woman went toe-to-toe in a fighting match and all things (height & weght) were the same, the man would win every time unless he had a defect and/or was ill.
Men are not women.
Doing surgery and/or giving chemicals to prepubescent teens is devastatingly harmful. They NEVER have a chance to go through puberty again. That's how the body is designed.
Women have their own bathrooms, change and shower rooms, sports, etc. because they need protection and privacy from males. If a woman goes into the change room at a water park with her daughters, she certainly isn't bargaining for some dick-twirling male to be walking round in there too, is she? Same goes for women's prisons. Karen White being the best known example of an absolute injustice and politically correct fuck up.

By supporting the gay rights movement, which led to the transgender nonsense of redefining a woman from the biological female adult to anyone who identifies as a woman, I would say that this is digging the hole.
Feminists should have never supported the gay rights movement, it is like they want their inch, but they don't want the whole mile.
Call me a homophobe or whatever, but if the gay rights movement never had mainstream acceptance, you would not have to worry about men claiming to be the opposite sex and taking away rights from women.

Gays are victims of these nonsensical, delusional males posing as women.
Lesbians are expected to accept "girl dick" by these homophobic males in dresses and lipstick.
If I put a tiny doll dress on a potato, applied mascara to its eyes and lipstick to the skin, would that potato suddenly be a human female?
This nonsense of males trying to take over the few bastions of female safe places is all on the trans identifying males (TiMs) who are advocating for such. Not the LGB movement.
But nice try at deflection, and projecting the blame on to innocent parties.
[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun - 3 years ago (0 children)
Without the gay rights movement, this transgender movement would not have come into fruition. The decriminalization of homosexual activity and state sanctioned gay marriage, and all these other things which the LGB stand for allowed the transgender movement to do their things. Once the liberals got the gay rights, they just moved the goal post and are now supporting this whole transgender movement. It is opening pandora's box, once you accept one thing (gay sex) this led to another thing (changing the definition of man and woman from biological reality to identity).
It seems that the origin of this is the sexual revolution of the 60's, without that all the things we see today would not be there.
You know what is interesting? There is a big HIV epidemic in the gay community, and many STD's due to all of the gay sex they do. It is like they are destroying themselves, and want to destroy themselves, so the LGBT movement at its very core is about self destruction, not only are the T's oppressing the LGB from your example. If they had sense, they would know that normalizing gay sex, practicing gay sex, and destigmatizing it would lead to their destruction. It seems like aversion and stigmatizing of homosexuality is natural like how aversion to incest is natural, due to the negative consequences it causes.
Well the slippery slope that was warned about 15 years ago from people being against the gay rights movement ended up being true, don't pretend that you were not warned about what normalizing gay sex would lead to. By supporting gay sex, these parties are not very innocent. All what I see happening is you reap what you sow.
Now days the LGB and T are working together, even brainwashing children in schools like what the organization in Britain known as Stonewall is doing, parents cannot even take their children out of such lessons, and they are integrated as a part of the whole education system. This is the future the LGBT wants. Both homosexuality and transgenderism are being pushed by these organizations. Your views are now considered bigoted, hateful and outdated, like how mine are and were. Supporting the gay rights movement in the first place led to this and now we are all facing the consequences. This is where the future is going, and the LGB and T are working together today whether you like it or not.

Thanks. Yeah, that's the pattern: claim victimhood and then bully people based on that. As one would expect with any identity-supremacist group, feminism by its nature must subvert anything it touches to make feminist issues the priority. The LGBT movement is a great example. Back before they added the T it was LGB. Prior to that it was GLB. Lesbians argued to be moved to the front on the basis that they are doubly oppressed by being homosexual as well as being women (i.e. intersectionality). This despite clear evidence that gay men had far more going against them both socially and legally.
That's one of many examples of feminism's role in the birth of intersectionality and also of feminism's need to impose its quasi-religious worldview onto anything it infests. One amusing development is that some transgender activists have taken to changing the ordering of the alphabet soup to TLGB. They're doing precisely what lesbians/feminists did back in the day, making it clear that lesbians are no longer at the top of the pile. Although a fringe movement, I expect this'll grow in popularity unless the transgender bubble bursts or some new and fashionable sexual/gender identity supplants it.
The elite men want their male competition to be castrated and feminized

From what I've been reading, lesbians and lesbian groups have the least amount of funding. Transactivism has more money at hand than the gay and lesbian movements combined.

From the linked statement:
Festival directors Drew Hadwen and Karen Harris emailed us seemingly out of the blue rescinding our stall and invoice. They said that because they “welcome all people, groups and organisations who want to join with us to celebrate the amazing diversity and creativity in our LGBTIQ+ community” they can not have our lesbian feminist stall or “presence” at Out Wellington Inc. organised events. We have written to Wellington City Council Mayor Justin Lester asking for a meeting to discuss whether he supports City Council funding going towards events that discriminate against lesbian groups.

It appears that they've been banned because their exclusivity is incompatible with the event's inclusive policy. And they're implying that, because others have discriminated against them (for being lesbian), their own discrimination against all males is justified.

What does that have to do with it? You're framing it as if it's about whether or not transgendered people can be lesbian. But Out Wellington Inc. took issue with LRA not allowing men on their board. Why would men, or any non-lesbian people, for that matter, be unable to represent LRA or stand up for lesbian rights?

Good luck demonstrating an ideological connection to anything patriarchal. Oddly enough, patriarchal ideologies don’t tend to be big on men becoming women.
It’s somewhat easier to trace the lineage between intersectionality and feminism. In fact it’s incredibly easy. Barely an inconvenience.
[–]just_lesbian_things 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun - 3 years ago (1 child)
The patriarchy wants masculine men and feminine women because it fits into the patriarchy's narrative of male-female dynamics. Homosexuality and gender non-conformance is a challenge to "traditional" (patriarchal) values. The existence of men who do not want to oppress women and women who do not want to submit themselves to men is an aberration. This is why extremely patriarchal countries like Iran supports "gender transition" and "trans rights" for gay men.
