I am looking at the saidit dependencies here:
https://github.com/libertysoft3/saidit/tree/master/install
I am noticing that a lot the packages installed here with the platform-specific apt-get package manager have corresponding packages available on the non-platform-specific conda and pip package managers. Has anyone thought about converting the installation scripts to work with conda or pip, so that you can install saidit on a non-ubuntu machine? This would have the added benefit of the dependencies being installable to a python virtual environment, so you have a way of encapsulating the installation without needing to worry about docker or VMs.
