Not much to report this week. Things are okay. I've felt out of sorts ever since COVID hit, like real life is on pause and I'm in some kind of weird alternate universe. I guess I'm having trouble thinking of this as the new normal. I want the old normal back.

Garden is starting to bloom and I had a little cry over finally getting grandpas irises to bud again. Got pansies, freesia, a big old hollyhock, sages, culinary herbs, daisies, daffodils, and lavenders going mad and a handful of beehives cracking along. Feels good to grow stuff. Like some sort of proof I’ve let go of toxic parts of myself cause I can make something live haha.

Camping season is coming up and I’m super excited but I’m taking a sharp stick and a fuckload of trash bags cause people are grotty and trash the sites. Catch some trout, maybe take the bow and get some rabbits. (They’re feral and outcompete native fauna. Will destroy the ecology if left unchecked)

Speaking of body shaming and media, anyone know of some sort of body positivity that isn’t just marketing? Gonna try and be sane instead of depressed and flirting with anorexia again over swimsuit season. I love the idea but can’t tolerate shills like that Tess holiday crowd.

Is it just me or is there so much bodyshaming lately? Everywhere on social media...people thinking all women should be thin yet somehow also have huge boobs/butts...people saying "real women have curves" all the time...Instagram users always photoshopping themselves...

Probably, which is why I'm not on social media. That shit is toxic. The whole industry is dedicated to convincing women there's something wrong with their natural selves.

Medical companies and beauty companies are making billions on gaslighting people into believing that they need to "fix themselves" or that they must look in one way or another, and every other year that way is changed, so people need to buy new stuff and not stockpile old one. It affects women the most, but there is big pressure on men as well.

I remember one funny moment from my life, we here in USSR had no real toilet water (or perfumes) for men for a long time, only very expensive ones or cheap cologne with specific smell. So when USSR crashed and burned, and all this new advertisements started to come here in huge amounts - people were not ready for this. On my job we had a man with severe autism. And he watched too much of "Axe effect" advertisements, so he bought Axe, and was spreying it on himself in front of women, and women were just looking at him like at an idiot, and walking by. Then he was running again to be in front of them, and again spraying Axe on himself like in adverts. It was both funny (what adverts making with unprepared people) and sad (as he was even more affected because of autism disorder).

Not really offtopic, but gender roles are being enforced once again, so gender beauty standarts of the past are returning back on social media. Gladly other media are not yet on this bandwagon, but with this "demand from market" it can change soon enough.

Things are going fine other than with my parents... They started feeling getting flu like symptoms on Thursday night, so I’m worried they have COVID. They got tests, but they haven’t received results yet. The symptoms don’t seems awful and their breathing is fine, but I’ll feel a lot better once we know. 😐

They’ve been traveling more than they should imo. I’m sure they’ll be fine, but I wish they had been taking this more seriously.

Update: They tested negative. 😊

I’m glad they tested negative. That must have been quite scary.

Thanks! It was scary! I still feel like they need to be more careful because if you can get cold or flu germs it seems like you also could just as easily gotten COVID.

Yeah. I wish people would be more careful. The only places I go are shopping and the gym and I see so many people without masks working out. It’s painful.
