Tim Cain worked on many important games, including Fallout, Arcanum, and Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. I largely enjoy the Fallout games. I did not try playing Arcanum. I liked Bloodlines even though I did not like any of the characters. With many modern games, I actively dislike characters even when they are not gay, but I find that gay culture makes me dislike the game more than I otherwise would have disliked it. I get plenty of interaction with gays just by living in a modern country. I don't need more gay stuff in entertainment. Tim Cain says that he wants to make characters that audiences will be interested in. Maybe most audiences are interested in gay characters. I am not. I prefer games without gay characters, even if that means the genre does not emphasize characters. Cities Skylines never pushed gay characters in my face.
I don't know how to measure whether gay culture is good or bad for civilization. I tend to think male gays promote venereal diseases more than other groups. I note that gay men are over-represented among child molesters. I note that gays of all kinds seem to make hetero mating more difficult, but that may be because hetero females have a bad habit of idealizing gays, so maybe I should blame the heteros for screwing up their own mating process. In theory, gays contribute to culture by working on various things, including the music of David Bowie and games like Fallout. I don't know any way to measure up the good and the bad.
