Pornography is a huge business, totally tied to human trafficking, and the tech industry supports it.

Hell, half the tech industry exists because of porn. Netflix streaming wouldn't exist without network infrastructure and content delivery systems, largely pioneered by online porn sites.

Absolutely. Porn, profit, propaganda/war are the main reasons tech keeps expanding.

In this past year, homeland security higher ups authorized two of their male operatives to get sexual favours in multiple instances in their sex trafficking sting of Asian women in massage parlors. After being called out for the ethical violations and being told to identify the operatives involved, they just threw out the case and gave some BS about the rules permitting these actions if they're crucial to the investigation, lets them build their case. After revictimizing these women, they're going to let the perps walk.

I like this quote: “ “Prostitution isn’t people deferring entrance to Yale while they prostitute to raise money for tuition—that’s not the reality of what it looks like,” said Nicole Bell, who worked as a prostitute after being trafficked as a teen. “We’re looking at people in poverty, people of color, people coming out of the foster care system.” It’s very soon in the article and she quickly dispels some myths and also gets people to check their privilege.

Talking about how bad trafficking is (without mentioning the sex/porn industry ties of course...) is also big business. Just ask the semi-famous pastor of a megachurch in my neighborhood!

Men LOVE to talk about things like sex trafficking. By talking about sex trafficking they can A. Tell women they don't have anything to complain about because their situation could be so much worse, B. Frame it as though it's entirely separate from porn and prostitution and C. Ignore the fact that these are largely underage girls and SOMEONE IS BUYING THEM and IT'S NOT FUCKIN WOMEN.

I remember the Guardian and other liberal media did a big handwringing campaign to get child migrants over to the UK from the Jungle camp in France (even though they were already in a safe country). But, you know, borders are evil, old fashioned and discriminatory.

Of course as soon as those kids were brought over most went missing and the majority who were found had been forced into the sex industry.

Kids don't move themselves thousands of miles, slave traders move them. Boarders are one of the best protections against trafficking. If you see someone wanting to get rid of borders or other safe guards for a reason which doesn't really make any sense (like needing to claim asylum in England rather than France or similar) then ask the difficult questions rather than going with the liberal flow.

Vulnerable kids will be vulnerable to trafficking no matter which side of any border they are on. Female children everywhere are at heightened risk when it comes to vulnerability and the sex trafficking industry.

I found out from a sex trafficking documentary that I live in one of the worst places for sex trafficking in this part of the country. I can't believe it's not something we talk about more. I saw one of the local schools where one of the girls was from and I was like, Oh shit. It's not just big cities. It's not just the poorest or the most vulnerable. It seems so remote to most of us, but sex trafficking is way more widespread than we realize.
