It's almost like it's a social contagion and removing peer pressure alleviates some of the stress that can lead to transition...

~shocked pikachu face~

It is such a shame that real research cannot be carried out in this field at all. I don't mean research biased toward one side or the other, but proper research based on objective rules. So all we have is anecdotal evidence from social media.

It could theoretically be done, but TRAs regard any research into the field that doesn’t explicitly align with their dogma from the get-go as oppression and actively seek to shut it down. I can’t think of any other religion that has that kind of power, even extending into mainstream academia.

“ Gender non-conforming girls are also being increasingly erased from mainstream media, part of a trend of trans-ing any young GNC girl on television. Popular dramas such as The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Good Girls provide prime examples of this. The result is a lack of gender non-conforming role models for young girls and the increasing acceptance that transition is the only solution.”

Finally somebody fucking said it.

I always noticed how when one friend group had someone come out as trans, within a year at least one follows and it rapidly becomes like dominoes. We need more studies that go into the transition and detransition phenomenons.

Left to their own devices I'm sure a good many would never have started to transition. At best, it's not worth the trouble trying to continuously get in to a doctor or therapist for each step in transitioning during a pandemic. At worst, there's no one to flaunt your "new self" to indoors alone in your home so they feel they don't need to bother because it's lost the thrill.

When I was going through identity issues as a teen I went through several phases... I was into gay icons (Darren Hayes anyone?) I had the hots for Ginger Spice and anime girls and boys. I read about the gay couples in Sailor Moon online (my country censored them) I was mistaken for a boy many times in my life and frequently dressed like a boy and had boy nicknames.

I'm now a happy woman and mother. I love who I am I wouldn't change it I just don't need to name it a million silly things to give it importance.

You read a little bit about my confusing life but what few words could get that across?

Bisexual woman who doesn't always dress like one and never wears makeup but can cook and loves gardening and being a mother? An ex-goth kid, closeted self-hating gay girl who went to church and was scared of hell from a young age? A little girl who was mentally abused who saw more than a person should? A person who is scared of being erased because I'm a white girl and so is my daughter?

Is there any place left where I can explore all the weird stuff in my brain without being called names and told to die?

Sorry, I am really tired and ranting now. Just asking some actual questions not what make believe names get you off...
