I often think entities (companies, wealthy extremists, etc) with a huge profit to gain are pushing this. They saw an easier route to push this via pouring money into left wing causes and political campaigns, since they in general were more “open minded” about human sexuality, combined with fatigue over right wing policy-makers. Once this trans thing is locked down legally, and women and children are open season to exploit sexually, medically, legally— they’ll go back to being the same right wingers they always were in every sense of the word. There will be a legally based caste system with men at the top, transwomen, then women marginalized to a permanent servant class. They’ll also lose all pretense about caring about minorities at all.
