Of these 27 young trans people 13 of them reported having attempted suicide at some point in the past. This is where the 48% of all trans youth attempt suicide stat comes from.

I can tell you that about 3/4 of people who put down as attempted suicides on these polls weren't trying to kill themselves. What they are mostly doing ranges from self harm, to dramatic attempts to manipulate family or friends, and finally genuine suicide attempts.

I've know five people who tried to kill themselves... Two were repeat fake attempts to manipulate others. One throwing himself in front of a car so his twin would save him, another repeatedly OD'ing just before her OH came home.

Another was a stalker who again tried that fake OD crap.

One guy took pills, then called ambulance immediately. Has a houseful of guns, not an actual attempt to kill, again.

Only two would I say actually meant it.

It's why you are supposed to interview and get details about these incidents before logging them as suicide attempts in a poll.

Those percentages are from anonymous polls sent out randomly to LGBT people who may or may not answer? And then you have people who probably didn't answer honestly or take the poll seriously.

This is not how you get statistical data on such a sensitive topic. It's astounding how lazy they are with their data collection.
