Yes! This was my initial thought about that 50 year old man who joined a women's college basketball team. Why in the hell couldn't he join a knitting group (no offense to women who knit! I've seen lots of young women knitting on IG and TikTok) with women his age? Why did he want to be a younger woman? Midlife crisis.

Because that gives you access to younger women.

When men think of 'women', they only think of them as being attractive, which to them means teenagers. If a man can self-ID as a woman, then why not the "ideal woman" i.e. a teenage girl?

Many TiMS are autogynephiles (AGPs) so get sexually turned on by the idea of themselves as a woman. Many AGPs are also heterosexual, so of course they want to feel like a desirable woman, and for men, a desirable woman often means a very young woman. And for these creeps, a very, very, very young woman. I'll take bets that for a lot of autogynephiles they want to be girls because they desire girls.

Gothic Lolita is for girls 14-18, 20 tops (20 is adulthood in Japan). This man is 46. Gothic Lolita meetups are for teen girls. These men will ask if they can join, and young girls being way too nice say, "well.... okay!"

There are adult women both in Japan and western countries that still wear it but they usually do not go for the "sweet" style (pastel colours, prints with toys and sweets etc., plush toy purses) but wear toned down versions that bear some resemblance to historical, vintage or goth fashion. In western countries most teens cannot afford to dress like that because it's quite expensive. Of course this doesn't excuse what this creepy man is doing, especially joining communities where most members are clearly younger and female.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the two TIMs I know still live off mom and dad's money even though they're in their early/mid 30s.

Well, many stereotypes of femininity are infantilizing, not feminity itself, but I'm not here to pick a fight about it.

To answer your question, yeah, I think so. On s/itsafetish you'll find TiMs acting out "lost girlhood" aka grown men having sleepovers and hair braiding and stuff like that. The sleepover thing is so common there's a tag for it. There are instances of diaper/adult baby fetishists and "trans age" TiMs that are respected in the community. There is absolutely a connection.

Has anyone here ever met a man who transitions who didn't have serious issues before they suddenly realized the gender they later claim they were born with? "I never knew, took me so long to realize I'm trans, OMG I WAS BORN THIS GENDER I AMMMMMM FEMALE! IF YOU SAY OTHERWISE...."
