Do you know what kind of comments/threads get deleted? I guess I usually arrive after the fact so I don’t even know what’s being removed. One nice thing about saidit is the public moderation logs.

Not BiscuitDough, but I have a personal experience with this that, after it happened, I learned my lesson and only post superficial things on Ovarit and mostly lurk.

I made a post that, at the time, was somewhat controversial, but it broke no rules, I remained civil, and a mod even participated in the discussion. It was a discussion that would have zero effect on site's server stuff too, so that wasn't an issue. Months after the fact, I received a notification that the thread had been deleted for "breaking a rule." What rule? Some overzealous mod had just decided to clean the archives, Fahrenheit 451 style.

Now, was the mod that did this girl_undone? I don't know because there were other mods at the time, but she certainly condones this sort of "cleaning."

It's hard to say because there's no accountability. So there's definitely no proof of anything. Usually it's when a disagreement gets going. Maybe it got a little too heated, but the deleted comments often go all the way to the first post instead of only the offending ones. I've had comments deleted on threads discussing whether or not gender is a useful concept and ones discussing misogyny in religions. I never attack people directly, so my comments are either getting stuck in cross fire or it's just literally because I'm talking about controversial issues. Not a good look either way.

I know one time in particular annoyed me. There was one of those "what's your most controversial opinion" threads which managed to stay pretty civil from what I remember. The admin locked the thread when she said she couldn't watch it anymore, but then proceeded to continue to respond in the comments after locking them to everyone else. 🙄

This may not be much to go on, but, judging by some of her recent comments she seems pretty stable and balanced. I wonder if she is just one of those people who feels the need to control others but isn't an ideologue; strange combination if so.
