Open-SaidIt-Project Animation #1 - Part 1 The Pitch
In my 2.5 years on SaidIt I've redesigned the SaidIt logo, the Pyramid Of Debate, made some banners, and shared a few images here and there. I even shared a mix or mashup here or there from my many in my archives. You may have even seen an animation or few of mine (most are lost to time in long forgotten TV commercials). Neat but nothing excessively impressive.
We obviously have problems, but we're working on solutions, and despite the cracks in the foundations and in the spirit of helping to unify SaidIt I'm proposing we collaborate on an animation together.
I actually have several more animations in mind, less developed, for later, but this one I've been thinking on for years. In ~2017 I pitched it to Holly Seeliger of the Zoon Politicon YouTube channel for her show opener. She bounced back a few good ideas too. Back then I wasn't as confident yet and was waiting for confirmation on something and time passed, we both were doing other things and that project just got shelved. Before it was indefinitely put on pause we had arrived upon a music genre, I found a track and mixed down a few variants, presented crude storyboard panels, and... That's it. I loaded them into After Effects but hadn't even blocked out a click track (marking off the beats and key sound moments to animate to), much less started any animation.
Since then I've had many ideas about it and realized I'd like to make several variations of it. I'd already proposed to her that I would build it so that I could render out different versions in different colour schemes for different seasons or whatever. I've since come up with other ideas about different visual styles. Long ago I'd planned to just animate an outlined template of sorts, like an animated colouring book of white pages with black lines. I would have the pages printed out and use actual paint on each page to be scanned in. In addition to the animation I would have hundreds of paintings to auction off, if there was interest. The painted version(s) would be for her channel. In addition to the outlined template and painted version(s) I could do a simple flat and/or graded colour version to better show the ultimate purpose of the animation as I can already imagine that the fast moving outlines may be confusing without colour blocking and I'll have yet to paint anything. Maybe one day a glossy 3D CGI version with fancy effects might be worth making too.
A dozen times, give or take a few, I've teased out the possibility of me doing a version that would be a SaidIt promo with this project. Of course that's still possible but I think this could be for something bigger than just SaidIt. Of course it could still include the SaidIt logo, WikiSpooks logo, other truth-seeker resources, alternatives, decentralized platforms, and resistance solutions. I'll ask again about this in a later part of this series.
Where does the SaidIt community come in?
With the basic colour version as a reference and the colouring book outline version, everyone of SaidIt who wishes to participate would "colour" a page or few, scan or photograph it, and then I would compile them together into the animation. Those "quotes" mean that there are endless ways to creatively make your page(s) completely unique and original (to be further discussed in more detail). I understand that not everyone may not feel creative. That does NOT matter. I will provide many inspirational examples you may emulate in another post in this series to prove that anyone can do it. Ideally and if so motivated, you could even do more than one so that in the end I could chose what is most appropriate for the end result. Ultimately we'll all see the raw version(s) along with my composited aesthetically unified version.
Bonus: You'll get to keep your artwork. Perhaps it may mean something one day.
The ultimate point of this post: Who's in?
If there's no interest that's fine. I can flex my mad skills in animation later. However, if I can count on some people participating then I can start blocking and animating it, as well as share inspirational reference example images for you. If enough are on board in future posts I can share my thoughts on copyrights/ownership and other purposes, the music track(s), future animation ideas, and other stuff - as well as discuss the resistance elements, your ideas, and maybe your ideas for future projects.
Our virtual community is global and our animation may reflect that in your work.
Feel free to discuss this and anything else. Maybe you simply wish to know more before you commit.
