Open-SaidIt-Project Animation #1 - Part 2 Copyright
Generally I'm all about open-source everything. For this project and this animation I have something else in mind...
Who's work is it?
The concept is 90% mine and 10% Holly Seeliger's. The work will be >95% mine but obviously some could be crowdsourced.
Creative Commons.
I've always thought we should retain the copyright for 5 or 10 years so that Holly and those who we allow can use it exclusively for while and get their boosts from it. After that we can just put a Creative Commons license on it.
"Intellectual properties".
It's no secret that copyrights, patents, trademarks, and all intellectual property claims are only as good as your army of lawyers and rigged mafia-government systems. Obviously I don't have an army of anything - except you. IMO we have better things to do than prevent folks from borrowing/copying/pirating/stealing our digital shit. Who we "allow or give permission to use it exclusively" is just our seal of approval, akin to a blue check - but more authentic. As it's universally obvious, we need not spread around that we have no way to defend these claims other than openly calling out their shit. And do not harass.
Who would we "allow"?
This gets interesting. Obviously I have an affinity to SaidIt, WikiSpooks, many other truth-seekers and their resources, alternative decentralized platforms, and resistance solutions.
I think that together our SaidIt community could come up with a decent list or few (ie. top tier, second wave, maybe a third). There may be different versions too (ie. only forums, only resources, only platforms, only truth-seekers, etc). Many top-level truth-seekers already have solid branding and show intros, so of course they're welcome, but hopefully this may help the new and up and coming folks.
Bonus: The ending of the animation is designed to be very flexible and will either end on a peace dove in the middle of the screen (the generic ending) or can end on a logo and/or even be directed to a different position on the screen - or have a transition or fade out. I can help folks with their branding (logo designs, upgrades, updates, etc.) and this stuff can be discussed later.
(If you're wondering about the narrative story in this short animation, I'm intentionally keeping that (and the simple storyboards) a surprise until it's ready to share. Maybe in the next post of this series I'll share the original music and/or my much shorter selective edits that remove the weaker parts of that track to focus on the excellent essence.)
The "invitation".
In addition to the list of the "allowed", our SaidIt community could come up with an open invitation for our collective approval. This invitation would also be sent pre-approved to our choice lists, while others may elect to be vetted.
The exclusive club.
What is all this exclusive copyright bullshit for? Obviously not everyone will jump at the opportunity or even care. Hopefully some, perhaps many, may in some small or big ways choose to join this motley crew of truth-seekers. Perhaps some may report on it, thus bringing attention to our community and our selections.
Importantly, while still remaining completely independent, there would inevitably be a loose affiliation of kindred spirits. There are already many other examples of loose affiliations out there in different fields (ie. Fandom Menace).
Q: What would this mean for them? A: Anything they want it to. They could make it official or not. They could cross promote each other. They just could use it as their intro, outro, filler, or whatever. There's no end to what they could do with it.
Bonus gigs.
Maybe they don't want this particular animation. Perhaps they want something similar, or different, or completely unique. They may want just me - or all of us to work on it.
LeverMind.
Some of you already know that one of my interactive projects (yet to be presented) that is one of the choices for you to soon weigh in on is a concept for my "/s/LeverMind Variety Show". I intend for a version of this animation to be my show opener as well - IF it's one of the projects we select for me to focus on.
Feedback.
As always I value your thoughts, good, bad, and moderately ugly.
If well received, there will be more posts in this "Open-SaidIt-Project Animation #1" series:
