Love this idea.

It could be simplified with a back up site (or network). For example, I could create a PeerTube that did nothing but archive all the media linked on SaidIt. It would not generally be used or promoted, except as backup. People could also bulk download from it. When its limited cloud drives gets full the old stuff gets deleted - but it's been downloaded and can be shared on linked slower home servers with potentially infinite storage. Anyone who cares to can also co-host their instance.

If this network think were actually developed it would certainly be in our interests to find all the mirrors available on all the tubes and link to them too (and lessen our bandwidth issues). So maybe "advanced settings" would be a good option for those who care about archiving, rather than a default requirement.
