So an article on "opensource.com" is not telling you to get or use windows but is showing how to change your PATH variable so the open source software you might want to install is easily accessible from the command line. Also highlighted is the dollar sign in the official logo of Bash for some reason, as if the dollar sign isn't the default prompt character on most shells. OP are you retarded?

This isn't the first article I've seen from "techrights.org" that's batshit insane (see https://saidit.net/s/Linux/comments/9uzj/you_cannot_remove_googlecontrolled_web_browsers/). I'm pretty convinced they are quite retarded. Or they're a Hurd enthusiast who really hates everything made by anyone else. Or both.

Microsoft, Google, and others, have not only infiltrated and corrupted GitHub and many open-source projects, "charities", and organizations, including Mozilla, Canonical-Ubuntu, etc. It's inevitable.

The author of that article, Alan Smithee, is hiding his real identity:

Alan Smithee (also Allen Smithee) is an official pseudonym used by film directors who wish to disown a project. Coined in 1968 and used until it was formally discontinued in 2000, it was the sole pseudonym used by members of the Directors Guild of America (DGA) when directors, dissatisfied with the final product, proved to the satisfaction of a guild panel that they had not been able to exercise creative control over a film. The director was also required by guild rules not to discuss the circumstances leading to the movie or even to acknowledge being the project's director.
