It was hard for me to finally let go of reddit despite a lot of my favorite subs and safe discussion spaces getting shit on and shut down, but here I am. I heard you can use emojis here 😎 Some background; I was on subs like r/LGBdroptheT, r/consumeproduct and others that got deleted. Some other subs seem to be super censored now or about to follow suit. I have libertarian political views. I hope I can make new friends here, and get into some debates without anyone getting banned or receiving hate. Fingers crossed!

I left for the same reason - some subs I lurked in got taken off and I have an intense aversion to de-platforming people. In a society where most communication is taking place on limited platforms de-platforming people isn't technically censorship, but the end result is very similar. So I have no interest in giving ad revenue to reddit anymore. Welcome to the site!

I agree with you 100%. These are scary times we live in. I was on a sub today and was scrolling a comment thread and every time someone tried to answer this user’s question, it was automod deleted. There must have been like 15 different comments trying to answer this poor guy and 15 automod overrides. It was then that I noped on out of there and decided to give this site a shot. Woooo, hi! Glad to see you here! I tried to figure out, but big surprise, any comments I found relating to the sub were censored. My only guess as to why it was banned is consumeproduct poked fun at corporations especially big money ones, gave tips on growing your own food and self improvement, and was just anti consumerism including pornography. You can probably guess why any and all of those things aren’t going to fly with reddit right now.

    Welcome! Saidit is obviously a fraction of the size of reddit right now, but it's growing. I actually deleted my reddit accounts years ago, but made an account here after the GC ban. Sounds like a lot of us came here for similar reasons.

    Yeah, some. The voting system is different, but I think I get the appeal. It prevents brigading and such. Honestly my main complaint is the site is still small so there are only so many active subs. I'm doing my part to get some of the other subs I liked on reddit going by submitting content. I think we'll get there.

    I already feel more comfortable posting here. I’ve mostly been lurking today but I’m planning to get more involved as well. Even posting an introduction here I was like shit. Reddit is toxic in the way it conditions people imo. We can make it great, I think. We can at least try
