Hello y'all, I used to lurk around LGB drop the T before it got removed on Reddit... Now, I'm here. C:

I'm transgender myself, but you have the right to be open about your opinions. Everyone should have a voice, even if some people don't like what you have to say. Censorship should never be tolerated, no matter what.

And, may I add, being offended by what other people say is dumb. All these middle-class, Yankee transfolk are acting like it's the end of the world when someone won't use the pronoun they want them to. What good does that do? It just makes them dislike you more, because you're acting like a child.

It's not censorship, it is society putting an end to hate speech and racism! What is hate speech? Whatever I deem to be so.

Do you have a problem with that? Only a hateful bigot would have a problem with putting an end to hate speech. Do you need to be cancelled? We got one, bois!

I can respect that. In your opinion, do you think that if there was enough funding, could there be an alternative treatment for GD? Like, where people wouldn't need to transition. And do you think GD is a mental illness? (Jw since there has been this thing where some wanted GD removed from the DSM).

Merriam-Webster defines a mental illness as:

any of a broad range of medical conditions...that are marked primarily by sufficient disorganization of personality, mind, or emotions to impair normal psychological functioning and cause marked distress or disability and that are typically associated with a disruption in normal thinking, feeling, mood, behavior, interpersonal interactions, or daily functioning

It defines gender dysphoria as:

a distressed state arising from conflict between a person's gender identity and the sex the person has or was identified as having at birth

The key word is "distressed". In order to have gender dysphoria, you by definition have to be distressed. And to be mentally ill you have to be distressed or disabled, with an impairment in "normal thinking, feeling, mood, behavior, interpersonal interactions, or daily functioning". Gender dysphoria checks many of these boxes, especially mood and feeling.

This isn't to say that transgenderism is a mental illness, as I believe the two to be separate (you can, for example, wear female clothing without being distressed), but gender dysphoria is a textbook example of a mental illness.

I believe that gender dysphoria should be treated by alleviating the distress. Sometimes they may include transitioning (doesn't have to be medical), and other times it may include a return to cisgenderism.

But isn't gender dysphoria and transgenderism the same thing? Or does it depend on how someone views it? (Ex: the "trucute" vs "truscum/transmedicalists"). As well as if someone who transitions is considered trans, then what would someone who has GD but doesn't transition be considered then? Just someone who suffers from gender dysphoria?

Just wondering because from the trans people who I have seen speak on it, they always made it out to be the same thing which is why I was asking this. Also, thanks for answering!

Gender dysphoria is distress about your birth sex, while transgenderism is playing a different role and behaving differently than your biological sex would prescribe, but it does get more complicated than that with concepts such as internal and external gender (a theory I've developed of my own accord).

Transfolk tend to equate the two because they tend to be left-wing, and the leftist agenda is promote transgenderism in a reckless fashion, in order to pull people into their LGBT "community" — which is really just a front for left-leaning political parties, like the Democrats.

Someone who transitions is not automatically considered to be transgender, and someone who has transitioned and cannot be considered transgender is merely transitioned. If someone has GD and does not transition, they may be transgender or maybe not, but in either case they are afflicted by the disorder.

Ooh, thanks for explaining! It's starting to make more sense. Especially with civility since majority of the time when I asked, it would be met with hostility (like I wasn't allowed to ask questions but both researching and asking to someone afflicted is still good) quickly.

There ain't nothing a Democrat hates more than having to answer a question, as they know that if they respond, their response will be picked apart and their claim proven to be false. The left cannot ever tell the truth, as fact is the enemy of the left. Their answers are but vague sentiments, and their sentiments a facade donned to fool the masses into joining their cult of lies.

True, true, I suppose. Although, it (personally) seems to be more of a case with liberals. I've seen some leftists fight back against that, since it's being grouped together with and giving bad reputation to them. Especially since leftist means something different outside of the US/Americas compared to other countries.

Yeah, Reddit also took out multiple other subreddits as well. Not sure if this one came back up (probably not), but they removed a right wing LGBT too.
