Oof I hope some of the backups that the article mentioned are able to be successful. That information should really be distributed through a series of torrents or something

Pretty messed up they did that without checking with their lawyers first. I wouldn't expect them to have been that naive.

Pretty worrying. I got to meet one of the IA people at a big archival conference a few years back and he was pretty cool.

I shouldn't be surprised at this. The cultists on the left started to set their sights on the Internet Archive if the threads on kia2 are any indication, and the publishing industry is rife with their ilk.

I'm surprised the Archive hasn't come under attack before this. At least part of it is on European sites like archive.it, and Europe now has a "right to be forgotten" law. There ought to be multiple archives around the world to get around difficulties like that.
