ANNOUNCEMENT: new mod, and this sub will be opening soon!

Everyone please give a warm welcome to a name you may know from time on some of our brother/sister subs ... u/PeakingPeachEater! She has graciously accepted the invite to join our team, and has been a tremendous help already with getting us closer to opening!

One area where we need your help is the rules of this sub. Based on our internal discussions and your feedback in the prior post, here's what we've come up with. None of this is finalized yet, as we want to get your input and clarify things first:

::About Us::

The s/LGB sub is a community for lesbian women, gay men, and bisexual men/women where we talk about our day-to-day life.

We discuss a broad range of topics -- from hobbies/interests, entertainment, memes, LGB issues, to relationships! Anything related to LGB is allowed except for gender identity topics --- please see rules below.

This sub enforces language and topic censoring. Mods will remove rule-breaking posts and comments, regardless of where on the Pyramid Of Debate they may be.

::Rules::

1) Be Civil: Healthy debates are natural, but civility is required. We strive to foster a welcoming environment.

2) Off-Topic: Posts regarding gender identity, "drop the T", transitioning, or detransitioning will be removed. Please see our list of other subs in the LGBT+ ecosystem below to locate a more appropriate sub.

3) No Self-promotion or Spam: Self-advertising posts, spam, and irrelevant links are not allowed.

4) Disallowed Language: No anti-gay, lesbian, or bisexual speech. No racism, ableism, or anti-semitism. Finally, no anti-trans speech such as troon, tranny, or trap.

5) Saidit Rules: Please review SaidIt Terms & Content Policy, and be mindful of sitewide rules.

I'm biased since I'm a mod and did pop in once in a while, but I'll start in case that helps other users want to comment.

I think the rules are a great start to get us opened, and we can always re-address later with the community as things change and progress. Post and user flairs will be the next consideration, once we know what people even want this sub to be.

I think rule 2 is probably the most important. We believe this sub should be LGB-focused only, and that means even good-natured and/or advice-style questions about gender identity should be directed elsewhere. We're aiming for an LGB safe space community with this sub, and even if it's LGB users asking the question or posting memes, don't want to accidentally colonize ourselves and become /LGBTQ+alphabet.

As SaidIt grows, the LGBT Ecosystem may become larger and more expansive. If that happens, we may need to shorten the sidebar list and make an extra page/link to other subs.

If you're looking for more input, you could try making a post in s/LGBDropTheT ; a lot of them might not know about this sub.

It was already announced in s/LGBDropTheT as a courtesy, it was in a mod-stickied post and is still referenced in the current stickied post.

s/LGBDropTheT won't make another separate post because that's violating rules about self-advertising.

We're looking for input from people who are already committed to being a part of s/LGB, not people who we wrangle in.

Soon. We're pretty much ready, we just need to make sure all of our mods are capable of doing the job before we open.

Hey, I know this got posted a while ago but just a quick question about rules: Could we add "no sexist language"? I noticed this is absent from the s/lgbdropthet rules as well, wasn't sure if it got overlooked or what. I think people are generally pretty good about not being sexist, but it might be nice to have it formally in the rules.
