Seems like TQs are getting pressed about not being included in the concept of homosexuality. Homosexuality is about 2 men and 2 women in a relationship. That makes it a homosexual relationship. A man's and a trans man's relationship cannot be a same sex relationship. The latter may call it a gay relationship, but it never will be a homosexual one. Same goes for a woman and a trans woman's relation.

Ultimately it is now about centering them in our world. That's what it has come down to.

For fuck's sake, if anyone tells you it's offensive just say you reclaimed it. That's a great idea. I never did that, in the past in these situations I argued that homosexual isn't offensive.

But your idea is probably better, I just need to say I reclaimed the word. And if they dislike it then they'll have to explain why I can't reclaim this word but they can reclaim faggot, queer, etc.

You know what's so scary? If they succeed in killing the words 'homo' and 'homosexual' then the word 'homophobic' will lose value too. They can act as homophobic as they like and we won't have the proper words to fight them on it.

For example right now when someone says something nasty about Muslims and someone else goes 'hey, that's racist!' someone always rushes in to go 'Islam is not a race, you idiot!' and then they start going in circles about it and it's like who the fuck cares if it's a race or not, you know exactly what that person meant. A discriminatory action has occurred because of the person's religion and 'religionist' is not a word and 'bigoted/prejudiced/xenophobic' don't have the same punch that 'racist' does, so they used an inaccurate word to describe an accurate feeling. Now they're going to strip the word 'homophobe' of power in the same way. You're going to say 'that's homophobic' and they're going to reply 'you can't say that word! That's offensive!' and never address your actual point.

'Homophobic' will literally be homophobic. Wow.

That is exactly what they want to do and what they are aiming for. Homosexual is "offensive" to them, it is not offensive to us. And all "offense" is simple "it is not including transgenders".

That's something that I've been thinking about, that the word roots like homo and hetero are also used in homophobia an heteronormative, so they can't really claim that these roots are offensive. But the issue then is that they could claim that the offensive part is sexual, and then start saying homogender or something, to describe people who feel attracted to the same "gender".

Just remember that you are not "reclaiming" the word homosexual; you are actually re-reclaiming it. Homosexual (and heterosexual for that matter) was coined by homosexual rights activist Karl-Maria Kertbeny in the 19th century. It is literally part of our history.

"cis" irritates me so much. I don't need a special word for being normal. And by the way, I'm reclaiming normal too. So does bisexual, pansexual, asexual... Heterosexual too, although in English the term straight is more common. "Straight" is an English slang, but in many other languages there isn't a similar slang, so people use words similar to "heterosexual".

Sure, people might use "homo" to offend others, but people also use "gay" to offend others.

There is an argument to be made that it's a... clinical sounding term, I guess? A word more suited for academic papers than chitchatting.

I doubt they care whether it was ever offensive or not. They only care because homosexual has a very clear and established definition that can't easily be rewritten by TRAs. Homosexual is the only one that isn't used with negative connotations. Queer was and is a slur, and gay has gone from meaning happy to meaning stupid or dumb. Where I live, people still comment "Oh, that's gay" whenever something dumb happens or if there's a pointless policy in place somewhere.

Homosexual is the only term that isn't associated with a negative connotation because it is the only one that is most associated with its actual denotation. This is just like them downplaying the problems of those who can't have biological children because TrAnS gAy MeN cAn HaVe BiO cHiLdReN and just shoving our problems into our faces and telling us not to complain because they don't have those same problems
