Wow...I am so dissapointed and sad. She was so proud to be a lesbian and fight homophobia, but was attacked so much. And now she is trans to run away from this? Is she going to do surgeries too? Insanity.

She was an icon and hero for so many young lesbians. And now what? What example she is showing? That nothing can save you from lesbophobia and that the only way to run from it is to transition? FFS.

This generation have no lesbians, all are bullied out by homophobes. It is so sad.

Is there any lesbian celebrities left at all?

Her career was flat lining, to be honest. She was OK when she was young and somewhat cute, Juno was a surprised hit that made you think twice about abortion. Whip It was a somewhat watchable grrl power flick. She was good in Sci Fi movies (X Men, Inception). But she was slowly fading away.

I suppose this is like setting the defib kit to 320 joules and yelling "Clear!"

It’s exactly that. She wants attention and this is how you get attention these days

Page mentions in an article that she will still play the role of Vanya, a 'cisgender' female character from Umbrella Academy, and that the show has no intention of changing Vanya Hargreeve's sex 'gender'.

Edit: so you are correct, most likely seeking attention.

Guarantee you she won't take hormones or do any surgeries.

Transtrenders don't tend to commit.

I remember reading during the Portland riots this summer that a trans-man was arrested and requested to be put in women's holding cells. They didn't want to be put in the detention center with men. Hmm, no shit.

There’s no difference between transgenders and transgenders. All transgenders are transtenders. The only actual difference among trans identified people is transgenders vs transexuals.

[–]fuckupaddamsBisexual Terve 33 insightful - 3 fun33 insightful - 2 fun34 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Is she going to do surgeries too?

Probably not. She only had to post a tweet and now even her Wikipedia is referring to her as a "he." Why get surgeries when it's that easy?

Yeah. :(

Like, damn. I wasn't planning to come out of the closet in the near future, but wow. What an example.

The word "lesbian" already has so much shame around it already.

Everything you said is true, but she was becoming more TRA recently, and she cheered the forced closure of Goldfinger by a weeb transbian. She's also clearly got mental health issues going on. She looks morose all the time and never smiles.

Well, I had a good view of Ellen.

So, uh, does this means he will drop his future roles as female characters? And renounce everything he said about being lesbian? I mean, how can you come out as lesbian if apparently you were a straight man all along?

Frankly if this was just some random actress whatever, it's her life. But it's really disappointing coming from an actress that turned herself into a lesbian icon, that was upfront about her sexuality, but apparently he was never a woman, so also not a lesbian woman.

In a post where he mentions the words "trans" and "queer" multiple times, not once there is a mention of "lesbian" or "gay" - although these were the words Ellen used before, these were the communities she fought for. But apparently we were just stones to step on the way.

I wonder if her wife will now have to come out as bi/straight.

[–]VioletRemiCat, homosexual one 63 insightful - 1 fun63 insightful - 0 fun64 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

Was it made specifically today to silence the Keira Bell huge victory?

[–]worried19 49 insightful - 1 fun49 insightful - 0 fun50 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

My first thought. Anything to distract attention from that huge win.

Also notice how Bell winning her case is nowhere to be found on Google News, not even in the World or Health section. Yet Page is the top story in Entertainment.

[–]VioletRemiCat, homosexual one 32 insightful - 1 fun32 insightful - 0 fun33 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

All the big news outlets forgot about Keira Bell now, and her case got lost in praising of Page. While Keira was a huge win for a lesbians.

I guess no big win without even bigger loss?

I just googled her, and the wife (Emma Portner) looks a good deal more manly than Page.

My prediction: They will both transition and will insist that everyone refer to them as a gay male couple.

You know, the homosexual women dating poll is small, and the trans shit will really make it smaller. All of this make me disappointed in being homosexual,Would have less worries if I were bi.

hope so. the extremism of this movement is cray cray. Question: as a non lesbian, am I allowed to say that it's not logical to ask lesbians to be attracted/open to dating trans women who are of the opposite sex? because according to a canadian friend of mine, I can't speak on that cause I'm not a lesbian, but no one gives me an answer IRL how that makes sense? I even start it with "if gender and sex are seperate .." - me casually trying to peak some people ;)

[–]blackrainbow 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

No, you're using logic. We are homoSEXual! You could argue that for straight women too, you're allowed to reject trans men

Hm... a certain someone who had some shit storms recently should take notes... Elliot Degeneres, anyone?

But seriously... what's going on, guys? I feel like it's finally time for me to go back into the closet. It was a nice ca. 10 years when I could finally enjoy myself and be proud of who I am in public. Now the world is burning down around me. There's no place for gay or lesbian icons, no place to heal or to vent. I finally realize their support has mostly been fake, and it was all about the straight "allies" themselves from the very beginning. They don't support homosexuality, they support "weirdness", "queerness"... "anarchy". They support themselves and their narcissistic urge to be unique. They inserted themselves into minority groups and claimed it for themselves, only to become the worst homophobes of our time in our western culture. Sorry, but it's true. They pick us when we're young, they take control over our reality, convert us and finally erase us and all of that with a f*cking smile on their faces but with the worst, hate-filled slurs coming out of these mouths. Gay culture, gay history? Nobody ever cared for the people behind all that, I'm realizing it now. And now trans and gender theory is where it's at! "Let's all go a step further, let's transition!"

Time to reel in our flags and banners, close our spaces and give up our platforms. Nobody is listening anymore. I'm seriously depressed af and need a break from all of this. Sorry if I'm rambling, it's weird that this (in combination with the public ignorance about the Keira Bell case) is my breaking point (for the moment). F*ck Ellen Page, seriously. Hope she's happy about all the trans roles she'll be playing now.

This took me by surprise, but in this current climate, it probably shouldn’t have. Hollywood has been a woke cesspit of degeneracy and stupidity for a long time, and in these past few years, it has been manifesting in some gender-fuckery. This is why we should not idolise celebrities. I was told that, during the Middle Ages, actors were seen as being on the same level as prostitutes - probably not true, as I have not looked that up for verification, but it wouldn’t surprise me if that was true back then. The real people you should take an interest in are your family, your friends, your neighbours, people who you interact with in real life. It’s good to have celebrities you like, don’t get me wrong. I am a fan of Alexi Laiho, then again, I’m only interested in his music, and I could not care less about his politics, his religion, his taste in food or his hobbies. I am never going to meet him in real life, and even if I do end up encountering him, it would be boring, because Finns don’t talk to strangers. I was sad when I heard the tragic news about Chester Bennington, and I enjoyed his music, but then again, I was still mostly sad that somebody committed suicide. Since I stopped caring too much about celebrities, I have started to focus more on myself and the people I meet in real life.

However, I am aware that many people do idolise celebrities, and this is unlikely to change anytime soon. And a gay celebrity being openly gay and having his or her shit together (or at least appearing to have his or her shit together) does give a lot of hope to young LGB people who are struggling to come to terms with their orientations. Ellen Page coming out as gay was a big deal for the community, and I can imagine it was big news for young lesbians. Especially young lesbians who were neither lipstick lesbians nor butch lesbians. Ellen Page was already very famous, and her coming out has helped a lot of lesbians and bisexual women - and gay and bisexual men as well, to a lesser extent - who were in the closet. Plus, if I was interested in women, I probably would have found her attractive, so I was very happy for the lesbians to have another celebrity crush. But now that Ellen Page wants to be a heterosexual man, well, I can only imagine how heartbroken so many lesbians are. This is especially bad, considering that lesbians are more susceptible to erasure and trans-colonialisation than gay men. Look, I did not give a shite when that Sam Smith fella came out as "non-binary" and revealed that he crossdresses from time to time. Then again, I’ve always found Sam Smith to be dull and whiney, singing in a voice of someone whose foot got runover by a lawnmower. He was also average-looking. His attention-seeking attempt was no loss for me. But if Rob Halford of Judas Priest decided to become a trans "woman", I would be very sad, so hopefully this never happens. Ellen Page is talented, charming, good-looking and has appeared in famous movies and programmes like the X-Men and Trailer Park Boys, so her return-to-the-closet-with-extra-steps will be a huge loss for lesbians. I am sure there are lesbian celebrities who are proud to be women and proud to be homosexual, but a loss is still a loss. And it is worrying what is happening to our community right now.

If the LGB community survives, LGB people 50 years down the line will look back on us and think our generation was sick, degenerate and idiotic. Which is probably true, because a lot of LGB people are apologists and bootlickers for the current state western civilisation has become trapped in right now. I can imagine being a 75-year-old man walking into a gay cafe with my husband, and a 22-year-old gay man asking me how we managed to get out of this mess we’re in right now. Hopefully.

[–][deleted] 42 insightful - 1 fun42 insightful - 0 fun43 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

As sad as this news is, I'm hoping it will be a wakeup call for other LGBs to see how soul crushing it is to be abandoned like this, and see that the T does not have our best interests in mind. I'm not even a lesbian but watching her get high profile roles while being an out lesbian was inspiring. The last season of Umbrella Academy where she has a girlfriend I thought her on screen relationship was very sweet. And it was powerful in context because the gf in question was stuck in an unhappy marriage in the 60s. The message loses all of its weight if Ellen is suddenly a straight man.

I hadn't even realized this was Ellen Page before coming onto Saidit because all news articles refused to deadname her. UGH. How fucking revisionist can the media get? Anyways, we need to save our lesbians ASAP. It seems like every lesbian woman becomes trans. This is getting out of hand.

[–]LeaveAmsgAfterBeep 14 insightful - 2 fun14 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

For as many as you see fleeing womanhood like its a plague, there’s many who have realized that the gender bullshit was never an answer or have left the gender bullshit. The thing is, because they/thems are women 2.0 they get more attention by the media which inflates the numbers etc. it’s a contagion, but people can grow out of it. Many will only have had their gender persona online and in real life would look incredibly obviously feminine taking a 40 minute drive away from a city, they’re just surrounded by hyperfemininity in some places and gender weird in others and so they look like 2 choices to those with blinders up and lots of propaganda to be “kind” via gender fuckery.

In Hollywood a woman's career expires at 30 if she doesn't have the looks, talent, or distinction to reclass into cougar/hot mom or matronly roles. This is simply a regressive attempt at securing more work.

[–][deleted] 46 insightful - 2 fun46 insightful - 1 fun47 insightful - 2 fun -  (8 children)

If she can be selfish enough to abandon her womanhood, abandon all of her lesbian and bi woman fans, and shit on her current role as a female character in UA then we can be selfish by saying don't trans the character. I'm just so angry. Every single time I find a lesbian/GNC woman to look up to she does this.

It's not even about being a man for her because she says her pronouns are 'he/THEY'. It's about NOT being a woman. ANYTHING but a woman. The motives are so clear and sad and I'm so angry this continues to happen. This right here is why I couldn't continue identifying as trans. I couldn't live with myself knowing I was too much of a coward to stand up to misogyny by choosing to opt out of womanhood. I would much rather try and be an example for other women and girls younger than me. There is nothing brave about this decision. The amount of support she's getting from it makes me sick.

Wikipedia is not objective

They are not. They are super woke. Zoe Quinn's page was "theynderized" very quickly as well.

We need an LGB Wiki that allows no one else.

This is why I don't believe Wikipedia has been a trusted source for a long time. People are too quick to retcon information & cover up the truth if it's not politically correct.

That really sucks. She was such an out and proud lesbian :( Seems like 1 in 5 lesbians these days are identifying as trans

[–]fuckupaddamsBisexual Terve 18 insightful - 6 fun18 insightful - 5 fun19 insightful - 6 fun -  (0 children)

More like 1 in 5 are not

Well, since nobody can play a role they don't 100% represent now, then I guess "he" is going to be out of a job very soon.
I can totally see SO MANY people lining up to watch a not-gay-at-all romantic comedy starring Elliot Page and some female actress in a relationship that is TOTALLY hetero guys, like no joke.

/s

If nothing else, I'll always have the scene between her and Kate Mara.
Sorry lesbians, I know it's gross to sexualize your relationships, but you're going to have to let me have that one.

Oh my god.

I don't even know what to say. I have looked up to her for so long. Wow.

I think this is the most 2020 thing I've ever heard of.

[–]SnowAssMan 22 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 0 fun23 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Maybe she, I mean "he" can finally get a job, oh wait, that's only the case for trans-womxyn. It's almost as if sex is more significant than self identification.

As far as I remember, Oscars require multiple LGBTQABCDFGH+ people in productions now to even be nominated. Perhaps she's taking one for the team of Umbrella Academy...

Am I the only one that found their acting terrible and cringey to begin with? Very flat, no emotion, no depth. Plays the same character every time. When I'm watching a movie I can't get into it because instead of seeing X character it's "Ellen Page reciting lines."

This hits hard, so to lighten the mood with a little bit of humor, I'm just dropping a link to Jade Fox's clip analyzing Ellen Page from her Analyzing Lesbians series.

"Ellen Page secretly looks like she would fuck the shit out of you for the simple fact that she looks like she wouldn't."

[–]fuckupaddamsBisexual Terve 17 insightful - 3 fun17 insightful - 2 fun18 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

They're all sucking her - I mean his - dick. If you see any juicy threads post 'em, but all the direct comments to her tweets are just validating bs.

[–]leokennedysass 17 insightful - 3 fun17 insightful - 2 fun18 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

lmao at people on reddit calling this a milestone for trans history. uhm, how?

[–]ExecuteHomophobes 15 insightful - 2 fun15 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

This is why there is no such thing as heterophobia or tr-nsph-b--. Both of them are victim-blaming douchewords that constitute false equivalence between any kind of retaliation against tr-ns and het bigotry with that same bigotry. It's an attempt to blame marginalized peoples for their own marginalization that means "stay in your place, f-g/d-k-."

[–]GreykittymommaMagical lady 💜 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Anyone see Super? !spoiler! she rapes Rainn Wilson's character. I don't want to ruin it if you haven't seen the film but still worth a watch to see what happens in the end. A FUCKING SHAME since she got famous for playing a teen mom but she's obviously a fucking man now. So yeah, they can have her lmao.

Edit: I misgendered him sorry.

This is super depressing. I didn't know much about her but this is disheartening nonetheless. I wonder whether this will last or whether she will change her mind (& inevitably get a lot of verbal abuse and threats for daring to go back)

[–]Happy_face_caller 12 insightful - 4 fun12 insightful - 3 fun13 insightful - 4 fun -  (3 children)

This is a career move. That’s why it was Vanity Fair and twitter and not an LGBT media outlet and representational event. Rub n tug and other roles are probably already in the pipeline. Other actresses the same age probably kicking themselves they didn’t think of it first
