Elliot appears to be wearing eyeshadow in the Oprah interview. I found that funny.

But yeah, describing her double mastectomy as 'life-saving' and proclaiming 'trans kids will die!' if they can't play sports (which they can, but I digress). I mean, really Elliot, trans kids will die without medical intervention? Did you die?

describing her double mastectomy as 'life-saving'

Seems like an insult to cancer patients.

Her breasts were hardly going to kill her. Her twisted delusions are the health risk here.

100% insult to my breast cancer surviving family member with double mastectomy.

Good point, she acted in a movie about teen pregnancy but never offed herself from the dysphoria. Fuck off Ellen.

Lol too funny. She did that.

There have been literally zero cases of transkids killing themselves because they couldn't transition.

Ask a TRA for an example of one. NADA.

Same as with hate crime murders of transwomen. Virtually non existent, they get killed at a lower than normal rate for males and when they do die is normally going to be regarding their own involvement in prostitution or drugs.

[–][deleted] 47 insightful - 2 fun47 insightful - 1 fun48 insightful - 2 fun -  (15 children)

Her statements are confusing is she really implying “children will die” if they don’t play sports? Genuinely wtf happened to her lol

It makes me wonder if she's always been crazy, or if these are side effects of rapid onset gender dysphoria.

[–]PatsyStoneMaverique 40 insightful - 2 fun40 insightful - 1 fun41 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

My money's on always troubled and something sent her over the edge in the last couple of years.

[–]Shales123 30 insightful - 2 fun30 insightful - 1 fun31 insightful - 2 fun -  (10 children)

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if she was being forced to transition by Hollywood or another evil force, something about the way she's acting right now seems very off, in a different way than transguys who transition voluntarily, who are usually bold and outspoken, not timid and nervous like the way Ellen is acting right now

[–]Alma_Esmeraude 25 insightful - 1 fun25 insightful - 0 fun26 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Ellen Page's transition seems like a new spin of the way singers and actresses in their late 30s/early 40s have public breakdowns or go haywire from industry pressure, paparazzi stalkers, etc. With the gender zeitgeist, her breakdown is being lauded as "brave, stunning", etc.

[–]PatsyStoneMaverique 24 insightful - 2 fun24 insightful - 1 fun25 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

From what I gather she's been involved in the Social Justice end of things for at least a decade. Sooner or later the revolution always eats its own, maybe she figured that out and is literally trying to hide to protect herself.

[–]NerveActive 15 insightful - 2 fun15 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

She was also victim of sexual harassment in Hollywood, abuse is a common thing that drives FtM into transitioning.

She's a rich actress. Nobody is forcing her to do anything. Please, let's stop with the cliché that women can't make decisions, including bad decisions, by themselves.

[–]wafflegaffWoman. SuperBi. 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

They can. They can also be targeted by predators who actually enjoy bringing them down. They aren't immune.

[–]QueenBread 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Ellen Page is rich, adult, and famous. She wasn't "forced to transition". Women can make their own decisions, even when they're awful.

[–]wafflegaffWoman. SuperBi. 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

This seems to need to be explicitly stated, so: We weren't there and don't actually know what's going on with her, so repeating this statement actually doesn't make it more true. That's a rather futile tactic to take (and a very TRA tactic). Odd approach to take to dialogue on this particular sub, no?

Narcissistic abusers can reduce anyone to rubble including the rich and famous, and they love juicy targets. That is my point, which I am now repeating with more words attached so it's perfectly clear.

And not every rich, famous person is also psychologically resilient. I refer you to every performer who ever killed themselves in response to the radical reality shift forced upon them by stardom. Try having some empathy for people who are "fortunate" (in quotes, because fame has serious downsides as well sometimes) too, maybe?

Do you also ask "why did she stay" every time a woman doesn't leave her abuser? I bet not.

And that concludes my interest in this subthread.

[–]QueenBread 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Try having some empathy for people who are "fortunate" (in quotes, because fame has serious downsides as well sometimes)

I wanna be that "fortunate". I'll take the burden and the serious downsides of being filthy rich and world famous. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

[–]wafflegaffWoman. SuperBi. 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think many of us would try to make that work, but it isn't for everyone. Which some find out the hard way.

[–]grammaroo 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

funny how she went HER ENTIRE LIFE with this "feeling" and endured it till now but everything needs to have a sense of urgency to panic everyone.

[–]grammaroo 41 insightful - 1 fun41 insightful - 0 fun42 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

she's publicly destroying herself and honestly, with the man thing. It's like she's imitating what she thinks a straight man is. and just so you people understand, just like how crazy straight men think theyre lesbians trapped inside a straight man's body....she literally thinks she's a straight man trapped inside a lesbian's body. she used to basically be every little gay and lesbian kid's spirit animal with the vice documentaries she used to do going to dangerous places to highlight the dangers of homophobia but i guess with all the stress, work and incredibly busy schedule, she had no time to enjoy her wealth and money to actually take a break, get therapy and self reflect so this "secret" just ate her up inside until she imploded.

Have seen that mentioned on other threads, juxtaposed with how Ellen Page used to be. Even the coming out letter had this strange bitterness to it. I really wonder what happened, because this does not seem like a person finally comfortable to be in their own skin.

[–]PatsyStoneMaverique 23 insightful - 1 fun23 insightful - 0 fun24 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

Coming out isn't a wonderful experience if you were forced to. I wonder who her industry handlers are, it might explain some of this.

Have you seen the second season of The Boys? There's a character who goes through a forced outing and then gets "accepted" to death by the corporate lizard people she works for. Very much intended as a passive aggressive punishment.

[–]lavender_menace 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Yep! And they have a jab at the social justice types in S2 as well. It's brilliant!

Keep an eye on Stormfront. 😉 And yes that is her hero name, and yes it is entirely intentional.

It's the "my body, my choice" bullshit which even women here support... bodily autonomy includes "top surgery" too folks. Lmao

[–]TransspeciesUnicornI sexually identify as a mythical sparkly equine 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

That same logic could apply to rape. If bodily autonomy doesn't matter, then why should anyone care about obtaining someone's consent before trying to fuck them? From that point of view the trans people who are trying to trick or bully their way into people's beds aren't doing anything wrong.

[–]Finnegan7921 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

For sure....to them, "stealthing" is perfectly acceptable. The threads where they talk about it are hilarious...they act as if they are this clan of trans ninjas, sneaking about so well that nobody notices or calls them out....people notice, they're just polite about it.

[–]slushpilot 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

bodily autonomy includes "top surgery" too folks

Hippocratic oath: "First, do no harm"

I would just hope there is enough safeguarding around that decision to make sure it's being done for a good reason, and that the person is in a good frame of mind. Also, no children.

I think Hollywood woke crowd will throw her a few roles but nothing of her caliber. She will just become an activist who used to be an actor.

One separate detail I read about her was that she and her wife separated last summer, and Ellen filed for divorce in January. This raises the question: Was her impending transition the reason for the end of the marriage, or was the breakdown of the marriage what set the desire to transition in motion?

[–]MatthewofHouseGraySuper straight ally :) 23 insightful - 1 fun23 insightful - 0 fun24 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

All I'm seeing is a mentally sick person who needs actual help which she unfortunately is unable to ask for herself and the people around her are fucking worthless idiots. She's extremely pale looking, she's skinner than what she was before her "larping" and her eyes look lifeless and hollow. She obviously has a a real problem which doesn't involve being in the "wrong body".

[–]Finnegan7921 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

She'd be able to ask for it if everyone wasn't busy fawning over her and telling her that it is awesome to transition instead of "hey, you've got some issues to work through."

It's the same way I looked after a couple of years with a narcissistic abuser. A few months after getting away from that person my best friend saw me again one day and was surprised by how much better and more like myself I looked.

Which is not to say that's going on here, but that's one reason someone can appear to deteriorate in this fashion.

I saw the video of her Oprah interview pop up on my YouTube page and just looking at the thumbnail made me so uncomfortable, I couldn't even watch the video. She looks so ill, it really shocked me. :/

About the whole ~omg the trans community are under attack~ thing....I'm just like ?? Really? I know here in the UK, when Philosophy Tube came out he wrote out this whole statement about how hard done by trans people are in the UK. But what this seems to amount to is the fact that trans people need to wait for treatment on the NHS (like everyone does) so basically, it's about them not getting what they want instantly.

The first 15 times i saw some article about "Elliot Page" I was annoyed because I was like "who the f is that" as if I was supposed to know or care about some random actor. Now I've finally started to realize the article is about the random actor and I feel equally annoyed that this person has been force fed into my brain to know who they are talking about.

The fact that the article uses "they" and "he" to refer to her, sometimes having two different pronouns in the same sentence. This is the first time I've seen it in something other than a blog (not that BuzzFeed is much more legitimate). And her voice... the halting way she speaks shows that she is grasping for talking points.
