As a straight parent, I’m grateful to see more queer representation

"As a white man, I'm grateful to see more gook representation at the Oscars."

That's what this dumbass sounds like.

When I imagine some sort of halcyon future, there would be occasional same-sex relationships in popular media for all ages, and nobody would care. My hackles get raised when everyone makes a big fuss over it. Maybe this is just growing pains, but I think it's likely something else. LGBTQ+ as a proxy for something else. The ongoing culture war isn't exactly about LGBTQ+. It's a lens, a locus, but it's not the thing-in-and-of-itself.

We are in complete agreement. The ideal would be to have an same sex relationship and them behaving and getting treated like human beings, nothing less, nothing more. And yes the queer movement is an offshoot of a greater catastrophic ideology, critical theory. The latter's goal is to deconstruct anything it believes stands in the way of "social justice" or at least what it's proponents perceive as social justice.Science, logic, common sense and deep rooted cultural values like the family, the human rights of the "privileged" etc, they all are fair game.

Take me with you. I'd like to go where you're going.

That's spot on, you're right. There's always been something bigger lurking in the background, like we're pawns in somebody else's game.

The cartoon seems nice. The word queer is disgusting thought. Can't believe a slur has become acceptable, thanks to trans agenda wanting to cancel clear reality based word to fit their anti-sex and sexuality views.

Sadly I think it's going to become the word that stands in for the whole ever-expanding LMNOPQ++ umbrella. (We could say it's a synechdoche but I can never remember how to spell or pronounce that word so I won't, hah.)

Then someone will realize hey wait, we picked the one word that was a universal slur (instead of let's say, gay) and the quest for a new term will begin anew, maybe going back to a new alphabet soup when nobody can agree again.

I'm kind of hoping that people get over the idea of identifying as and belonging to and can just start being themselves without needing to call undue attention to it, whatever that is.

Ooh synecdoche. I had to look that up.

Dear lord, another straight mother thinking she’s virtuous for forcing her kid to watch a movie that literally calls us “weird.”

I've seen for myself how early heteronormative conditioning starts for young children

Is she trying to say people are conditioned to be straight? By inane stuff like goofy baby clothing, no less? Is she then implying she wants her child to be conditioned to be gay or am I reading too much into a poor word choice?

Its not an unheard of idea, I've seen other people express and go off about it.

I've heard people whining about "heteronormativity" (or "not everything is about me and I cannot cope") but this is the first time I've ever seen someone using the word "conditioning" on the left side of the horseshoe. I guess it was only a matter of time.

I know a few people who go on and on about "heteronormativity" and every time I'm just like "they're 99.9% of the population, of course you're going to see shit catered to them 99.9% of the time"

I seriously don't know what's up with these people. My best friend is a straight guy and that's never been a problem. Aside from my boyfriend, everyone else in my life is straight. Why the fuck is it such an issue? They're the primary sexual demographic of humanity. Fucking deal with it already, christ.

Baffles me that some of these same people say that postmodernism is bad, whilst complaining that we have a cursory association between colors and gender roles.

I think it's a little buzzy buzzword she feels sophisticated for throwing around.

God, Netflix is such hot garbage.

I used to like Umbrella Academy from Netflix but...after the whole Ellen/"Elliot" Page thing, it's going to be awkward watching it... She's a transman and lobbed off her boobs had a double mastectomy and wants everyone to call her a he/they or whatever. Not sure how it will play out on the show since she plays a female character.

Edit: So in otherwords, I'll probably stop watching it...

heteronormative conditioning... starts before they are born? in utero?
