The lesbian and radical feminist group "Résistance lesbienne" protested at the Paris pride this weekend. Their slogans were:

What don't lesbians have? Penises!
What don't lesbians like? Penises!
Lesbians need feminism, not mutilating transition.
Mastectomy = misogyny!
"Genital preferences" are natural, not transphobic.

They got attacked by a MtF who tried to destroy their placards, before the police arrested him. The TRAs are now completely rewriting the story (how predictable), saying that it was the lesbians who attacked him, despite video footage clearly showing the contrary. The TQ+ people went so mad they even made "TERF" trending on twitter!

However, it's great to see such brave women resisting against this homophobic and sexist queer ideology and I hope it's just the beginning!

We promote uncompromising lesbian visibility. We reject any fetishization of our sexuality made by the perverse and colonizing imagination of the patriarchy. Let us fight against heterosexism and against the compulsory heterosexuality that women experience. The heterosexual couple is not the "norm".

The eroticization of domination is patriarchal terrorism, and the sexual violence of BDSM is neither proof of love nor of sexual practice: it is hate.

Non-anglophones, do the "queers" in your countries call themselves queer without translating it? Queer in french is either de pédé ( short for pédéraste) or de tapette.

Queer is used in Dutch as well. It's an English term. There are Dutch insults for homosexuals, but none of them have a similar meaning to queer. I guess it makes more sense for them to use queer than to call themselves something that's actually an insult here.

The Queer Movement has adopted the word to mean "sexually different," but it is indeed still being used as a pejorative for gay men by most English speakers. The justification given by queer people is that they're reclaiming an insult. Why don't Dutch queers do that, I wonder?

Unfortunately I think this is doomed to fail because of some of their impractical political stances, but it is a good step that will lead to better things in the long run.

I hope their action will encourage all sorts of lesbians (not only the radical feminists ones) to assert their sexual orientation, which is exclusive and fundamentally inconsistent with queer theory ("everyone is a bit pan"). That's what I meant when I wrote the last words of the post.
