Tbh I don't know much about stud culture but I've only ever heard it used by black butch lesbians. And if they want a term to refer to their own specific experiences and lifestyles then yeah I think it's wrong for white lesbians to use it. Like we don't like it when non-lesbians appropriate lesbian-specific terms for themselves, so imo it's hypocritical to be okay with taking away terms specific to black lesbians and changing the meaning. Just say butch lol

It's not bad per se; it's like white boys who call themselves gangstas, until they actually meet them.

There's a whole culture to studs which is associated with black and Hispanic and/or those who grew up in such environments.

Stud culture centers around masculinity and misogyny; where as, white lesbian culture centers around feminism, regardless if the lesbian is butch or femme, generally speaking.

I don't think I ever heard a white butch call another woman a bitch in a broad, pride, arrogant manner. When you're in an environment with studs, you will. Bitches, hoes, whores, sluts, it will be said.

Going to Dinah Shore then going to Houston Splash is like going to two different countries.

I think the people who do not like white studs are those who think the studs are cultural appropriating, are ignorant, or are breaking up a community that was once very much against masculinity, misogyny, patriarchy, hetero normative roles and confirming to a community that is the complete opposite.

So, you mean that self-proclaimed stud lesbians are women acting like men and having typical misogynistic language. Cringeworthy.

They're pretty hot.

I don't like masculine women. And a woman behaving like the worst type of man, it is just terrible.

What's wrong with masculine women?

Nothing wrong with them. I'm only attracted to feminine style.

Ah okay. The context of the rest of the comment threw me off. I've been feeling a mix of support and suspicion as of late as a butch lesbian.

Suspicion. Look, actually I've found new respect for butch lesbians. In the the past, I didn't like them at all. It was all the thing about looking like men, it felt like heteronormative and I asked, how the fuck can you like someone looking like a man, and the answer was like "well, under the male clothes, there is a pussy.", and that made sense, clothes and haircut are just styles, not actual sex characteristics. Today, in the gender ideology era, people seriously says lesbians involve dick and butch are so under pressure on transitioning. So, even if I'm not butch or into butch, I respect someone who is brave enough to being themselves, especially such a pressure. Also, butches are the ones that have to deal with the most hate. I can hide being a lesbian, you cannot. And also have to deal with hate for being gender non conforming.

I don't think it is wrong, but I also do not like woke culture one bit and am tired of accusations of "appropriation".

In woke circles its considered terrible for a white lesbian to call herself a stud

Broken clock is right twice a day.

I think it would be at least tone-deaf for a white person to call themself that. But I don't have experience with the culture firsthand and I don't have a good sense of how damaging that is (petty as opposed to actually harmful).

I think since most of us here are of the opinion that it's frustrating for bisexual women or non-lesbians of other categories to be the main ones speaking on behalf of lesbians, the fairest thing on topics like this is to centre black lesbian opinions.

Obviously I don't know the race of people on here and we can't verify lol but the idea that it may be only non-black commenters expressing whether it's right or wrong makes me uncomfortable. It's an interesting question, I just think we should be specifying in the conversation if these are standpoints coming from eg a black american, white american, person of colour in a society that doesn't use these terms etc

Funny you say this because I'm actually of color and speak of this in a few post but my comment is at the bottom of this thread. However, one thing we(black and other woc) know that is the lesbian community is pretty racist so my voice being drowned out even though I live/lived the experience is common. "White women stay winning".

I've always more or less associated it with black butch lesbians. I don't think it's a big crime or anything, but I would laugh a little if a white lesbian called herself a stud.

i dont particularly care what others label themselves but it is a historically black term. in woke circles pretty much everything is wrong.. which is why i advise people to not get in woke circles haha

I actually didn't know this term was related to the black community at all until now. I've never used it but I'm learning from this thread.

I have personally never had any interactions with a white woman that referred to themselves as a "stud" and personally I would find it very offputting if they did. I guess it would be akin to a bisexual woman or a trans woman referring to themselves as a "dyke" - kind of cringy.

It's crynge even if a black does it. It's ridicolous and pathetic.
