I love perfumes and wear them frequently. I just think they're fun, not necessary. They often remind me of places I've been and times in my life.

  • Nomade by Chloé - This is my favorite these days but it's best outside of the summer. It's both sweet and masculine/musky at the same time. Also the liquor notes are pretty pronounced. I'd say it's better for night than day. I dropped and shattered it though and now have to get a new one.
  • Nirvana Rose by Elizabeth & James - Never have I ever had a scent so complimented on me and by a wide swath of the population, so I guess this one is the People's Choice for me. It's not a standard rose scent. I don't even like rose scents otherwise, but there's something special and non-standard and non-grandma about this one. It's much richer, sexier, and more sophisticated. It's also very appropriate for different occasions and different times of the day, including both going out and going to work.
  • Stella by Tocca - Blood orange, bitter orange and watery notes on top. So light and summery. I only wear it in the summer and especially when I travel, so I have a lot of happy memories associated with this. Hiking in the Alps, hiking in the Italian Riviera, laying on a beach on the French Riviera, etc.
  • Alien by Thierry Mugler - This is a weird one but there's something about it, especially in the cooler months.
  • Joie de vivre - This is my own personal fragrance that I created at the Galimard studio in Grasse, France. It's very gourmand, probably a little too much so.
  • Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift - Wildcard, I know! But I wore this a lot back in the day and I stocked up on a bunch so I'll basically be buried with it. It's a little young for me now, but it's still a nice scent. Very raspberry and vanilla. The packaging is cute too, even if it's a little young for me now.
  • Omnia Indian Garnet by Bvlgari - I only had this as a sample and loved it for something nice and pleasant when going out at night. I meant to buy a full size and didn't and I think it was limited edition. Maybe I'll buy it from a shady site some day.
  • Boys by Kilian - This perfume is basically jazzed up Coca Cola with Citrus. Makes me feel like Lana Del Rey with all of her cola references lol.

I also love a lot of men's colognes. For example:

  • Aqua Marine Pour Homme by Bvlgari - One of my favorite scents of all time. Watery notes + muskiness. I think this works on men but I love it on me too and I'm not even particularly masculine. I think women can pull it off generally.
  • 1 Million by Paco Rabanne - I probably smelled like a gay men's club in Europe when I wore this but I don't care. I think there's a women's version but I can't remember it and it didn't leave an impression.
  • Jazz Club by Maison Margiela - This is a very boozy scent. Another gay men's club scent lol.
  • By The Fireplace by Maison Margiela - Only for the heart of winter, but it smells like firewood burning in winter.

That's all I can think of right now. I went through an entire bottle of Honey by Marc Jacobs and it was nice, but really nothing special. I definitely got bored of it.

Alien & One Million are my go to. Love those!

Isn’t Alien just so interesting? I don’t know of any other fragrance like it. It’s like, it shouldn’t work, but then it does. And as for 1 Million do you agree with the European gay men’s club assessment lol?

I love the fact Alien isn't your typical girly scent. Alien is so different You're totally right on both accounts :L

I love scents! I wear Prada's Luna de Rossa on special occasions and I love it! Its clean and crisp without smelling 'aqua'.. if you know what i mean XD Its close to Dior's Suavage but I haven't tried that yet. When a woman you like wears a nice scent, the memory of her becomes so much more vivid and deeply imprinted in your memory, emirite?

I hate it and I wish no one smelled like anything, myself included. I'm allergic to nearly all commercial perfumes and have started to subconsciously associate nearly all perfumey scents with migraine and asthma. I switched to all unscented products and feel a lot better, but it makes me even more aware of how everything is scented these days. I can't even wash my hands in public without bringing my own soap unless I want to be covered in hives and not be able to breathe and sometimes go blind because of a migraine.

That said, I really like Lush's "New" shampoo bar. Smells really nice and not allergic to it.

I am really sorry for those allergic to parfumes cause I am probably their worst nightmare. I love fragrances to the point of overusing them sometimes.

My current favourites are Max Mara 'Gold Touch', Cherutti 'Image', Yves Saint Laurent 'Black Opium', Bvlgari 'Jasmin Noir', Escada 'Miami Blossom' and the list can go on and on and on :)

I am an absolute sucker for indie perfumes. I love lost highways from alkemia (Palm leaf, Spicebush, New mown hay, Acadian pine, Desert nightflowers, Linden blossom, White patchouli). I have some samples from sixteen92 on the way too and I'm so excited! My favourite name-brand perfumes would be chanel no 5, l'ombre dans l'eau by dyptique, mimosa and cardamon by jo malone, une fleur de cassie by frederic malle (the last one is too expensive for me to own haha).

I love chanel and dyptique, but I just don't know if jo malone is worth the money. I just never get much longevity with that brand; however, I haven't tried all their scents by a long shot.

I like it because it's creamy :) I can't complain about the price because it was a gift! I think scents have to be tested, some brands (hermes) last hardly any time on my skin.

I just use the unlabled cologne I have in the cabinet that was given to me at Christmas over the years. I should probably shop around and find what I really like.

I love perfume but I hate white musk. I hate most of the men's perfumes because of that. A notable exception is Armani "Stronger with you intensely" which is my new favorite perfume.

[–]begonia_skies[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I dislike musk, powder and ambroxan, if it has a strong presence for any of those, I'm probably not going to like it. A lot of women's fragrance has a powder scent, and I just really dislike it.

The perfume I'm talking about smells like wood and candied chestnuts!

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I like nice smells but I'm really sensitive to most fragrances. I start coughing or have to leave the room when people wear anything stronger than shampoo around me. It feels like I can't breathe. :(

I like scented lotions, I dont really like the smell of alcohol

Sadly I'm allergic and they give me migraines, I haven't come across a fragrance that doesn't yet make me itchy all over or give me a blotchy rash when I put it on. I can get both of those symptoms when I'm near someone who wears it too, depending on how much they put on. I hate it! I have to buy hypoallergenic stuff for every skin product.

I usually don't like the way mainstream perfumes smell, and they tend to give me a headache, but I own some indie scents I really like. I prefer foody and fruity scents, both on myself and other women. I hate cologne and "masculine" smells.

Lush has this scent they called Breath of God. Now, the regular perfume smells bad, but the solid perfume stick is my favourite scent. My wife used to put a tiny bit just under her ears and on her wrists and it smells amazing. It wears off more quickly than liquid perfume and it's much more subtle. She stopped buying it when they stopped selling the perfume sticks. It's not as convenient to keep around anymore. Neither of us wear any perfumes or scents anymore.

I'm actually also a fan of Armani Code cologne. It's not as overpowering as other colognes I've smelled, but one spray is enough to last the day and any more would be too much. It's the only liquid scent I've liked at all, really. Perfumes always smell...I don't know how else to put this, but sour? It hurts my nose. And colognes are always so strong so that they can hide that guy stink. I DO like fruit and vanilla body sprays, but those wear off quickly.

I love fragrance. One of my fave is perry ellis 360.

I have trouble finding perfume that doesn't give me a headache or smells off because of the alcohol, so I pretty much stick with TokyoMilk's Tainted Love lotion.

i never cared for it until i was maybe 20? i used to wear euphoria by calvin klein because that's what my brother bought me for christmas every year and then i switched to i forget the name but it was something by christian dior and now i wear far away by avon because it was my moms scent and she gave it to me. i love slightly fruity scents. i don't think they're necessary but it's never a bad thing to smell extra good. the people who smell like they took a bath in it are the worst though. my ex hated when i wore anything because she's a hippie and prefers that i smell like me, which isn't bad, but i prefer to have a lil extra razzle dazzle.

I wore Opium RELIGIOUSLY from the time I was 14 until they messed up the formula when I was 33. Turns out if you eat 20 pounds of some of the stuff in the original formula you might get cancer in 20 years!

Now it just seems dated, and that’s ok. I’m really careful about what my conditioner smells like though.

lol, I have a bottle of black opium that I've had for awhile. It definitely feels a little dated and I'm trying to update my collection now that I'm in my 30s to scents that aren't too flowery and sweet.
