I have helped a few of my friends fully transition to Linux of late. They're happy as day to day users. It's really picked up its game. These are not all super tech people I'm talking about either.

Nope, it isn’t, because it’s desktop environment has the worst backwards compatibility in the business.

DE backwards compatibility. What does that even mean? You mean driver compatibility? That's hardly an issue nowadays. Besides, Linux supports more peripherals out-of-the-box than Windows. But keep shilling for that M$ proprietary crap.

It sucks so bad I left the freely available Windows 10 behind and am happily computing back on Linux where I wish I'd stayed.
Cool, wait a few years and your niche software will no longer work without a rollback

I do like the Linux sucks videos. However my most recent convert declared that as a long term Mac user he is impressed the most with the gnome desktop experience. He's smitten by it and is diving in, learning all the shortcut keyc etc etc. Everyone has their own opinions but when I see a guy like this (photographer, Mac user, lower tech skill) dive in so easily I can say the Linux desktop is now at a point most any person can get started easily.
the problem isn't that, its about long term support of software. linux has alot of catching up to do before the userspace is stable enough to develop once, without ever needing a future update
