Alfred Hitchcock Hour - The Jar

A farmer (Pat Buttram) buys and brings home a sideshow jar whose curious contents frighten his wife (Collin Wilcox) and puzzle and mystify everyone else.

Guest George Lindsey, who plays Goober in The Andy Griffith show, and was also in M.A.S.H ("Temporary Duty") earlier in the day.

I could almost believe Pat Buttram was playing Mr. Haney in this episode, in a dark corner of Hooterville. He was just perfect for this.

Absolutely! It was a great story, Hitchcock did it justice, the acting was good - it all came together to create a very memorable and classic episode.

Slim Pickens was in a minor role. Maybe his best role was as the B-52 pilot in Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove.
