I was banned from a subreddit about the German language

All I did was post a query stating that I do not like translating "high school" as Gymnasium, because of the differences between American and education systems. In stating I am apt just to use the word "high school," I mentioned I do not like to do that out of concern of how many hundreds of words German--and other langauges--are borrowing.

Some people were being assholes. One person, instead of just ignoring the post or answering, asked simply "is this satire." I reported it because I find when I respond that sort of impudence, I get dinged. Without warning or being told not to get in fights about the Americanization of things, they just banned me.

I don't think I will even bother trying to reason with these assholes.

Since I used Nord VPN, am I safe going to that subreddit with teh same vpn, provided I choose a different locale?

No, it is awareness of how I am put in a predicament--I either let that sort of impudence stand, or I respond to and i am the one who gets sanctioned.

Just take a deep breath, do your stimmies, and let the thought pass before it sucks you into this whole chain of thinking about someone else's impudence.

Technically, they can always know you are the same user despite VPN or Tor usages, using different browsers, etc. Fingerprinting is a massive inescapable beast.

I see. Different device then would be required, that I have never used from my main account?

Is that an especially labor intensive process, such that the risk is small?

They likely employ a third party service to do extreme user finger printing. They'd tell you it is because of spam, but with their focus on being a highly sophisticated censorship and propaganda platform, they will find many areas of benefit. This can usually reliably grab uniquely identifying fingerprints about your browser and device, include supported fonts, supported SSL ciphers, and video card details. It's not worth trying to obfuscate and work around this, using a second device and a VPN seems the only way.

With the countless experiences posted here and elsewhere regarding the irrationality and insanity of Reddit, why do you feel the need to be there? What's the point? I signed off in 2020 and have never give another thought to the site. Who cares? They're lunatics. What else do you need to know?

There is an online dictionary called leo.org. It does not get the same level of traffic..Quality over quality
