This isn't really what I hope to see on this sub.

I don't have a problem with posters like that if we're allowed to punch holes in their fedoras (in Minecraft).

    oh nooooo

Sock is a mole, who comes here to do some mining work. But essentially he's an idiot, as everyone here knows.

    [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

    yawn...

    [–][deleted] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (14 children)

It's here because of the thread about proof of genocide by Russia in Ukraine. Saiditors have different views of this.

    [–]jet199 4 insightful - 4 fun4 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

    This is a joke sub.

    Maybe better on s/Ukraine

    [–][deleted] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Thanks - though I post mainly in subs that get reactions from more than 10 people (9 here now). There is also no information about this sub in the side panel. Part of my concern is the pervasive cynicism among some at Saidit who want to parrot propaganda claims that Ukraine is massacring its own people. So this is the perfect sub for that kind of cynicism.

    [–]asterias 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (11 children)

You could post the link to the original article, yet you chose to post a link to a bannit discussion. Saiditors have all kind of views because there's not a forced narrative like there is on bannit.

    [–][deleted] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

Yes, I posted the genocide discussion thread. Yes, Saiditors have different views. No, there is no "forced narrative" experienced by most people in the US. No - the word 'bannit' means nothing to me.

    [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (9 children)

    forced narrative

He means on reddit I think. That's the problem now with reddit, if you don't say the Right Things, you are banned. Only their narrative is allowed. Which makes it a terrible source. You'd think everyone supports trannies from looking at Reddit, but only because everyone who doesn't gets the banhammer.

I guess that also extends to the mainstream media, only one main narrative is allowed, with some slight variations. Makes for unreliable sources.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/us-using-declassified-intel-fight-info-war-russia-even-intel-isnt-rock-rcna23014

I see no evidence. Your thing appears to be this propaganda NBC admits to.

    [–][deleted] 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

    Thanks for the info.

(Part of the problem is the assumption that a complex, diverse website like Reddit can be called a forced narrative, or can be called 'bannit'. This is extreme-right circle jerk language at extreme-right 'alternative' social networks that actually force their own narrow narratives and ban anyone who disagrees. [edit - removed some words])

    [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

    complex, diverse website like Reddit

It's not though. Socks, I can't go on there without catching bans left and right, and I'm not a rule breaker and I'm not particularly extreme. You're just getting confirmation bias from there, it's not a real reflection of anything anymore.

At one point he also offered me $200 worth of bitcoin to leave

Damn, nobody ever offered me money to leave. I'm jealous.

That's how upset he's been about vaccines and the concern that his kids might be required to get vaccines.

That's totally understandable. I was initially okay with the covid vaccine but in hindsight it was the wrong choice. The only reason we're not being screwed over by covid cases is thanks to those people who didn't get the shot. Natural immunity ended up being better. Only at risk people should have ever been vaccinated.

I've not been banned at Reddit,

    Because you buy their bullshit.

    [–][deleted] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

    Because you buy their bullshit.

Redidit is not a monlith. You can visit /r/conspiracy and see the same lunacy you see here at Saidit.

And if you say something like this:

The only reason we're not being screwed over by covid cases is thanks to those people who didn't get the shot.

In a normal discussion about covid vaccines, you'll be seen as one of the trolls trying to spread disinformation, because your comment is false. Covid cases reduced when vaccinations increased. It's as simpla sa that. It's not bullshit. It's not someone's opinion. It's corroborated. It's scientific fact, agreed on by 96% of the world who believe in science. To believe in your statement, one has to claim that scientific research and virology and medical science are all wrong. So, instead of believing a random anonymous person online about vaccines, we can look at the scientific evidence, which has been checked and tested billions of times with doses of vaccines, and we can say with certainty what the facts are. I don't have to face the forced anti-vax narratives of you and the few others who have absolutey no evidence, or experience, or even logical argument to back up your opinions. None of this is even arguable in a normal discussion. If however we lived in a medieval German city state, you might have a point. Sorry to pick on just this one point, but I hope it helps to offer an explanation.

    [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

I'm listening to Bloomberg and they're blaming Le Pen's success on "misinformation," but that term is synonymous with "far right" to them. Crazy.

    because your comment is false

That was on your very own CNN.... https://edition.cnn.com/2022/04/06/health/where-is-ba-2/index.html

    They call it "failing upwards."

Hahaha, I can't wait to read your reply.

    [–][deleted] 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Thanks. I watch Bloomberg when I'm in the US, and what they note about misinformation campaigns by Le Pen and others is true (fascists cannot get votes by meing honest). Anyone on Saidit can appreciate Bloomberg's approaches because they must provide reliable information for investors, or will not be popular with them. I don't watch CNN because they're too repetitive and it's strange how excited they get about normal news. The BBC I see every day is relatively reliable, though they're too baised in favor of Tories. Regarding the CNN link you've provided, I don't see anything there that's informative. I also try to avoid contradictory arguments, like 'falling upwards' and don't know what it means.

block socks, he's not worth your time or attention

    [–]TheJoint 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

That is so fucked up. They kill their parents then they want them to be adopted by Russians to be indoctrinated into their authoritarian culture. Free people shouldn't be subject of authoritarians like Putin

    [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

    yep

    welcome to Saidit, BTW

    [–]Tigerbitecrazy 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (15 children)

Why the heck link to reddit? Is there an article or just a bunch of those yahoos talking about it in the comments?

I will not click on a reddit link so please don't suggest I do. I'm interested in the post but not enough to go there.

    [–][deleted] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (14 children)

(the discussion thread is the topic; and you're on a cynical sub called, meanwhileonreddit)

    [–]Tigerbitecrazy 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (13 children)

Right but I am on this site to pull traffic from reddit, as miniscule as that may be.

    [–][deleted] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (12 children)

Perhaps ask cynical_americano, Zapped, and la_cues to make you a mod of MeanwhileOnReddit so that you can write instructions for the left side panel. If you wil require the Reddit item to be cynical or funny, I would still want to post the present topic, to allow Saiditors to cynically claim that Ukraine is genociding its own population, just as Putin - the paragon of virtue - has claimed. That said, there are 3 users in the sub now. With special rules and requirements, the sub can reduce that number of visitors.

    [–]Tigerbitecrazy 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (11 children)

I was honestly just asking for a recap so I didn't give them traffic, so, I appreciate that. I'm not sure what you're on about with the mod stuff but I'll just stick to being a lowly nobody... who uses saidit instead of reddit...

    [–][deleted] 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

For what it's worth, Reddit is 16th in global traffic and gets 52 million daily active users. There is much more of a benefit visiting several news aggregate sites than there is when visiting only one. If you want to be informed, you can rest assured that your visit to Reddit will not help them.

    [–]Tigerbitecrazy 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (9 children)

Chiefly, that is info I didn't ask for...

Secondarily, reddit is not and had never been the best source for news and never EVER should been used as a primary one. Reddit is, however, a good place to find articles to keep abreast of the propaganda streams from the msm BUT nothing more than an echo chamber if you dive into the comments section for discussion. If I want news I will stick to my usual going to several sites and figuring out where the stories line up.

Thirdly, as I stated in an earlier comment, I know my lack of traffic to their site is a drop in the bucket but I do not want to add anything to it. It is as simple as that. Same reason I no longer play Blizzard games. This is, again, a "drop in the bucket" scenario but I won't budge on it.

Fourthly, all I asked for was a recap because I didn't want to visit Reddit, broseph. 5 comments in and you're still propping up Reddit like I'm missing out of some seriously sweet tang. I was a redditor for over a decade and a half and tried to stick with it as it declined but there was longer any room for healthy discourse. (Before then I modded for Digg but that's a story for another day)

    [–][deleted] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

So you're going to write this mini essay in order to lecture me? I don't need a lecture. All posts in the present sub will be about something on Reddit, and thus one would have to normally go to Reddit to get additional information. Please leave me alone.

    [–]Tigerbitecrazy 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

If that was a mini-essay you may want to sign up for a college course in lit as soon as you get done replying to this. Might be helpful? It was not to lecture you, it was merely because you tried to insist on me going to reddit and i told you why I would not....then you brought the nonsense about internet traffic, as if that makes them not only trustworthy but newsworthy?

Most people that post on this sub post the archive or screencap.

I'm not trying to be rude, but if it comes off that way so be it. It's difficult enough to convey tone when writing on the internet let one a forum filled with people who have more vitriol than blood in their veins.

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

I recommend responding to other users.
