They're issued if you log in with something like google. I have a stupid generic reddit name that was automatically generated when I used my google account to log on....

They also do this if you ask for a username suggestion when signing up.

I wonder how many of those are bot inspired. That combination is one of the methods for autogenerating a username, options for which run out when a website like that has 1.212 billion active monthly users.

I saw half of them copy-pasting posts and replies. There are lots of bots among them.
