Over saturation always leads to people getting tired of a given trope or practice. And in the old days studios just focused on making a single great movie, but nowadays it's all about creating a franchise. Even before a movie gets green lit for production, the studio is planning sequels, prequels and spinoffs. Am I the only one who misses the experience of watching a movie that contains no hints or eastereggs for what is to come, just getting the complete package, And the ensemble giving their all cause who knows if they're ever gonna work together again. Aren't people getting sick of the whole "here is more of x, enjoy" practice. So, when will this model lose its lucrative shine. When will studios return to making standalone movies, or do you think that will never happen?
