They're merely trying to show that they are more inclusive, for a broader audience, if we want to look at this from the point of view of BigCorp strategy. I doub't it will backfire on a company like Disney, which has been selling cultural infantilism decades, indeed becoming one of the leading influences that have made cultural infantilism so popular. You think this change in boy/girl/whatever language will be more than a blip on their business strategy radar? It's all part of increasing market share in entertainment. Nothing more. Is the latest trend in avoiding specific genders insidious and quite damaging. Could be. Will the Disney Board or the general public give a shit. Probably not.
